1. Introduction

This device is designed to enhance energy efficiency and convenience by automatically controlling lighting based on room occupancy. It is suitable for various applications, including bathrooms, garages, laundry rooms, and utility areas.

2. Safety Information

WARNING: To avoid fire, shock, or death; turn off power at circuit breaker or fuse box and test that power is off before wiring! This device requires a neutral wire for proper operation. If you are unsure about any part of these instructions, consult a qualified electrician.

3. Product Overview

4. Setup and Installation

Before beginning installation, ensure power is OFF at the circuit breaker. This sensor requires a neutral wire connection. If your existing switch box does not have a neutral wire, consult a qualified electrician.

1. Turn Off Power: Locate the circuit breaker controlling the switch you are replacing and turn it OFF. Verify power is off using a voltage tester.
2. Remove Old Switch: Carefully remove the existing wall plate and unscrew the old switch from the wall box. Disconnect the wires from the old switch, noting their connections.
3. Identify Wires: Identify the Line (hot), Load, Neutral, and Ground wires in the wall box. The Westgate YM2108-T-W typically has five wires: Line, Load, Neutral, Ground, and a Traveler wire for 3-way applications.
4. Wire Connections: Connect the wires from the wall box to the corresponding wires on the Westgate sensor using wire nuts.
   • Connect the Line wire to the sensor's Line wire.
   • Connect the Load wire to the sensor's Load wire.
   • Connect the Neutral wire to the sensor's Neutral wire.
   • Connect the Ground wire to the sensor's Ground wire.
   • For 3-way applications, connect the Traveler wire to the sensor's Traveler wire and to the corresponding traveler wire on the other 3-way switch. For single-pole applications, cap off the traveler wire.
5. Mount Sensor: Carefully push the wired sensor into the wall box and secure it with the provided screws.
6. Install Wall Plate: Attach the new wall plate.
7. Restore Power: Turn the power back ON at the circuit breaker.

5. Operating Instructions

The Westgate YM2108-T-W sensor offers flexible operation modes and adjustable settings.

Operating Modes:

• Occupancy Mode (Auto-ON/Auto-OFF): In this mode, the lights will automatically turn ON when motion is detected and turn OFF after the set time delay when no motion is detected.
• Vacancy Mode (Manual-ON/Auto-OFF): In this mode, the lights must be manually turned ON by pressing the switch. They will then automatically turn OFF after the set time delay when no motion is detected. This mode is Title 24 compliant.

The mode can typically be selected via a small switch or setting on the device itself, often accessible by removing the wall plate or a small cover.

Adjustable Settings:

• Time Delay: Adjust the time the lights remain ON after the last detected motion. This can typically be set from 1 minute to 30 minutes. Locate the adjustment dial or switch on the sensor and set it to your desired duration.
• Light Level Sensitivity (Photocell): This setting determines at what ambient light level the sensor will allow the lights to turn on (primarily in Occupancy mode). If the room is already bright enough, the sensor can be set to prevent lights from turning on. Adjust this setting to suit your environment.

6. Maintenance

The Westgate YM2108-T-W sensor is designed for minimal maintenance. To ensure optimal performance and longevity:

• Cleaning: Periodically wipe the sensor lens and outer surface with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners, solvents, or excessive moisture, as these can damage the device.
• Inspection: Occasionally inspect the wall plate and sensor for any signs of damage or loose connections.

No user-serviceable parts are inside. Refer all servicing to qualified personnel.
