Introduction
This manual provides instructions for the safe and effective operation of the iGaging Absolute Digital Indicator, Model 35-700-10. This precision instrument is designed for highly accurate dimensional measurements in industrial and scientific applications. Please read this manual thoroughly before use to ensure proper handling and to maximize the instrument's performance.
Safety Information
Observe the following safety precautions to prevent damage to the instrument and ensure user safety:
- Handle the indicator with care. Avoid dropping or subjecting it to strong impacts.
- Do not disassemble the instrument. Unauthorized modifications can lead to malfunction and void the warranty.
- Keep the indicator clean and free from dust, oil, and other contaminants.
- Avoid exposure to direct sunlight, high temperatures, high humidity, or strong magnetic fields.
- Dispose of used batteries according to local regulations.
Product Overview
The iGaging Absolute Digital Indicator features an absolute linear encoder system, which allows it to always remember and trace its absolute origin zero or preset data. This technology enables unlimited measuring speed without losing its origin, providing an absolute position reading immediately upon power-on. The indicator face can be rotated up to 330 degrees for optimal viewing.

Image Description: This image displays the iGaging Absolute Digital Indicator. The device has a circular gray body with a gold-colored faceplate surrounding the LCD screen. The screen currently shows a reading of "-0.44875" in inches, with "in" and "INC" indicators visible. Above the screen are three buttons: "PRESET", "TOL" (Tolerance), and "+/-" (Direction Change). Below the screen are three more buttons: "ZERO/ABS", "ORIGIN" with "in/mm" below it, and a Power button. A knurled stem extends from the bottom, and a carbide-tipped probe from the top. The brand "iGAGING" and "IP54" rating are visible at the top of the faceplate.

Setup
Battery Installation
The indicator operates on one CR2032 battery. Two batteries are included with the product.
- Locate the battery compartment cover, typically on the back or side of the indicator.
- Use a small coin or screwdriver to gently twist and open the cover.
- Insert a new CR2032 battery with the positive (+) side facing up.
- Replace the battery compartment cover and ensure it is securely fastened.
Mounting the Indicator
The indicator features a standard 3/8" diameter shank for mounting. Secure it firmly in a suitable indicator stand, fixture, or measuring device.
- Insert the shank into the mounting hole of your chosen fixture.
- Tighten the locking screw on the fixture to hold the indicator securely in place.
- Ensure the indicator is stable and does not wobble, which could affect measurement accuracy.
Operating Instructions
Power On/Off
Press the Power button (symbolized by a circle with a vertical line) to turn the indicator on or off.
Inch/Metric Conversion
Press the in/mm button (located below the ORIGIN button) to switch between inch and millimeter display modes.
Zero/Absolute Measurement
Press the ZERO/ABS button to toggle between incremental and absolute measurement modes.
- In incremental mode, pressing ZERO/ABS will set the current position as zero, allowing for relative measurements.
- In absolute mode, the indicator displays the measurement relative to the set origin point, even after being powered off and on.
Origin Set
Press the ORIGIN button to establish or reset the absolute origin point for measurements.
Preset Value
Use the PRESET button to enter a specific starting value for your measurements. This is useful when you need to measure from a known reference point other than zero.
Tolerance Function
The TOL button activates the tolerance function. This allows you to set upper and lower limits for your measurements, providing a visual indication (e.g., arrows on the display) if a measurement falls within or outside the specified tolerance range.
Changing Measuring Direction
Press the +/- button to reverse the measuring direction, allowing the display to show positive values when the probe moves up or down, depending on your preference.
Data Output (SPC/USB)
The indicator is equipped with an SPC/USB data port. This port allows for connection to a computer or data collection system for statistical process control (SPC) or other data analysis. A compatible data cable (sold separately) is required for this functionality.
Maintenance
Cleaning
Regular cleaning helps maintain accuracy and extends the life of the indicator.
- Wipe the indicator body and probe with a clean, soft cloth.
- For stubborn dirt, use a cloth lightly dampened with isopropyl alcohol. Avoid harsh solvents.
- Ensure no liquid enters the display or button areas.
Storage
When not in use, store the indicator in its protective case in a dry, clean environment, away from extreme temperatures and direct sunlight.
Battery Replacement
Replace the CR2032 battery when the display becomes dim or the indicator fails to power on. Follow the battery installation steps outlined in the Setup section.
Troubleshooting
- Display is blank or dim: Check battery installation. Replace with a new CR2032 battery if necessary.
- Inaccurate readings: Ensure the indicator is clean and free from debris. Verify proper mounting. Recalibrate by setting a new origin or zero point.
- Buttons unresponsive: Check battery level. If the issue persists after battery replacement, contact customer support.
- Data output not working: Ensure the data cable is correctly connected to both the indicator and the computer/data system. Verify software settings.
