4. Setup

4.1 Physical Installation

  1. Choose a Location: Select a suitable indoor location for the camera, ensuring it has a clear view of the area you wish to monitor and is within range of your Wi-Fi network or an Ethernet port.
  2. Mounting (Optional): If mounting on a wall or ceiling, use the provided mounting accessories. Mark the drill holes, drill pilot holes, insert wall plugs, and secure the camera base with screws. Ensure the camera is securely fastened.
  3. Insert Micro SD Card: If not already inserted, locate the Micro SD card slot (refer to Figure 2.2) and gently insert the 8GB Micro SD card. The camera supports up to 32GB.
  4. Connect Power: Connect the power adapter to the DC IN port on the camera and then plug it into a power outlet. The camera will power on and initiate its startup sequence.

4.2 Network Connection

The camera supports both wireless (Wi-Fi) and wired (Ethernet) connections.

4.2.1 Wireless (Wi-Fi) Connection

  1. Download App: Download the "OmguardHD" application from Google Play Store (for Android) or Apple App Store (for iOS) on your smartphone or tablet.
  2. Register/Login: Open the app and follow the on-screen instructions to register a new account or log in if you already have one.
  3. Add Camera: In the app, select the option to add a new device. Follow the app's wizard for Wi-Fi setup. This typically involves connecting your phone to the camera's temporary Wi-Fi hotspot, then selecting your home Wi-Fi network and entering its password.
  4. Complete Setup: Once the camera connects to your Wi-Fi network, it will appear in your app's device list. You can then rename the camera and set a password for it.

4.2.2 Wired (Ethernet) Connection

  1. Connect Ethernet Cable: Connect one end of an Ethernet cable to the camera's Ethernet port (refer to Figure 2.2) and the other end to your router or network switch.
  2. Download App: Download the "OmguardHD" application from Google Play Store or Apple App Store.
  3. Register/Login: Open the app and register/log in.
  4. Add Camera: In the app, select the option to add a new device. The app should automatically detect the camera on your local network. Follow the prompts to add and configure the camera.

5. Operating Instructions

Once your camera is set up and connected, you can begin using its features via the OmguardHD app.

5.1 Live View

  • Open the OmguardHD app and select your camera from the device list.
  • The app will display the live video feed from your camera.

5.2 Pan and Tilt Control

  • While in live view, use the directional controls (usually an on-screen joystick or arrows) within the app to remotely adjust the camera's horizontal (pan) and vertical (tilt) angles.
  • The camera supports up to 3 preset positions that can be saved and recalled.

5.3 Two-Way Audio

  • To listen to audio from the camera's location, tap the speaker icon in the app's live view interface.
  • To speak through the camera's speaker, tap and hold the microphone icon and speak into your smartphone/tablet's microphone. Release the icon to stop speaking.

5.4 Recording

  • Manual Recording: Tap the record button in the app to start/stop recording the live feed directly to your smartphone/tablet.
  • Micro SD Card Recording: The camera automatically records to the inserted Micro SD card based on motion detection or continuous recording settings configured in the app.
  • Playback: Access recorded footage from the Micro SD card through the app's playback feature. You can search by date and time, view, and download recordings remotely.

5.5 Motion Detection and Notifications

  • Enable motion detection in the app's settings. You can often adjust sensitivity and define detection zones.
  • When motion is detected, the camera will automatically start recording to the Micro SD card.
  • The app will send push notifications to your smartphone/tablet and can also be configured to send email alerts.

5.6 Night Vision

  • The camera automatically switches to night vision mode in low-light conditions using its 5 infrared LEDs.
  • Night vision provides clear black and white video up to 5 meters.

6. Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the camera lens and body. Do not use liquid cleaners or abrasive materials, as they may damage the camera.
  • Firmware Updates: Periodically check the OmguardHD app for available firmware updates. Keeping your camera's firmware updated ensures optimal performance and security.
  • Micro SD Card Management: Regularly back up important recordings from the Micro SD card. If the card becomes full, older recordings may be overwritten. Consider formatting the card periodically through the app to maintain performance.
  • Environmental Conditions: Ensure the camera is used within its specified operating temperature and humidity ranges. Avoid exposing it to direct sunlight, extreme temperatures, or high humidity.

7. Troubleshooting

Common Issues and Solutions:

  • Camera not connecting to Wi-Fi:
    • Ensure your Wi-Fi network is 2.4GHz (5GHz is not supported).
    • Check that the Wi-Fi password is entered correctly in the app.
    • Move the camera closer to your Wi-Fi router to improve signal strength.
    • Restart your router and the camera.
  • No live video feed:
    • Verify the camera is powered on and connected to the network (check indicator lights).
    • Ensure your smartphone/tablet has a stable internet connection.
    • Restart the OmguardHD app.
  • Motion detection not working:
    • Check if motion detection is enabled in the app settings.
    • Adjust the sensitivity settings.
    • Ensure the camera's view is not obstructed.
  • Micro SD card not recording:
    • Ensure the Micro SD card is properly inserted.
    • Check if the card is full; format it if necessary (this will erase all data).
