To begin using your Trezor Model One, follow these steps for initial setup:
- Connect the Device: Connect your Trezor Model One to your computer using the provided USB cable.
- Install Trezor Suite: Navigate to suite.trezor.io in your web browser. Follow the on-screen instructions to download and install the Trezor Suite application. This application is essential for managing your device and cryptocurrencies.
- Firmware Installation: The Trezor Suite will guide you through the process of installing the latest firmware on your device. This is a critical security step.
- Create New Wallet or Recover:
- Create New Wallet: If this is your first time using a hardware wallet, select the option to create a new wallet. You will be prompted to create a PIN and write down your recovery seed. Store your recovery seed in a secure, offline location.
- Recover Wallet: If you are recovering an existing wallet, follow the instructions to enter your recovery seed.
- Set a PIN: Establish a strong PIN for your device. This PIN will be required for all transactions and device access.
- Backup Recovery Seed: The device will display a series of words (your recovery seed). It is imperative to write these words down accurately and in the correct order on the provided recovery sheet. Keep this sheet in a safe, private location, as it is the only way to recover your funds if your Trezor device is lost or damaged. Do not store this digitally.
- Optional Passphrase: For enhanced security, you may choose to set up a passphrase. This adds an additional layer of protection beyond the recovery seed.
- Complete Setup: Once these steps are completed, your Trezor Model One is ready for use.

- Passphrase (Optional): An additional layer of security that creates a hidden wallet, making it virtually impossible for an attacker to access your funds even if they obtain your recovery seed.
- Physical Confirmation: All critical operations, such as sending funds or confirming addresses, require physical confirmation on the device's buttons.
- Isolated Environment: The device operates in an isolated environment, making it immune to malware, viruses, and keyloggers present on your computer.
