5. Setup
5.1 Battery Installation
- Locate the battery compartment cover on the back of the micrometer.
- Use the provided battery compartment tool to gently turn the cover counter-clockwise and remove it.
- Insert a new CR2032 battery with the positive (+) side facing up.
- Replace the cover and turn clockwise until secure.
5.2 Initial Power On
Press the ON/OFF button to turn on the micrometer. The display will illuminate and show the current reading.
6. Operating Instructions
6.1 Power ON/OFF
Press the ON/OFF button to switch the gauge on. To turn off, press and hold the ON/OFF button for 5 seconds, or the unit will auto-shutoff after 5 minutes of inactivity.
6.2 Zero Setting
- Ensure the measuring faces (spindle and anvil) are clean.
- Gently close the measuring faces completely using the operating lever.
- Press the ZERO button. The display will show "0.00000" (or "0.000") indicating it is zeroed.
6.3 Absolute (ABS) and Incremental (INC) Measurement
Press the ABS/INC button to switch between absolute and incremental modes. In absolute mode, the micrometer always references its true zero point. In incremental mode, you can set a temporary zero at any point for comparative measurements.
6.4 Unit Conversion (in/mm)
Press the in/mm button to toggle between inch and millimeter readings.
6.5 Measurement Technique
- Clean the surfaces of the object to be measured and the micrometer's measuring faces.
- Hold the micrometer firmly.
- Press the operating lever to open the spindle wider than the object.
- Position the object between the spindle and anvil.
- Release the operating lever slowly until the measuring faces contact the object with consistent pressure. The micrometer's internal spring mechanism ensures repeatable measuring force.
- Read the measurement directly from the digital display.
6.6 Data Output (SPC/USB)
The micrometer is equipped with an SPC/USB data output port. To utilize this feature, connect an optional SPC/USB data cable (not included) to the port and to a computer or data collection device. This allows for direct transfer of measurement data.

7. Maintenance
7.1 Cleaning
Regularly clean the micrometer, especially the measuring faces, with a clean, lint-free cloth. For stubborn dirt, a small amount of isopropyl alcohol can be used, but avoid harsh solvents or abrasive materials.
7.2 Storage
When not in use, store the micrometer in its protective case. It is recommended to leave the measuring faces slightly open to prevent pressure on the spindle and anvil, which can prolong the life of the instrument.
7.3 Battery Replacement
Refer to section 5.1 for instructions on replacing the CR2032 battery.
8. Troubleshooting
- Display is blank: Check battery installation and charge. Replace battery if necessary.
- Inaccurate readings: Ensure measuring surfaces are clean. Re-zero the micrometer. Check for any physical damage.
- Buttons unresponsive: Check battery. If issue persists, contact support.
