4. Setup and Installation

4.1 General Wiring Guidelines

4.2 Component Speaker (Woofer) Installation

  1. Choose Mounting Location: Select a suitable location in your vehicle, typically door panels or kick panels, that can accommodate the 6.5-inch speaker depth and diameter.
  2. Prepare Opening: If replacing existing speakers, ensure the opening matches the PF.6 speaker's dimensions. If creating a new opening, carefully mark and cut the hole.
  3. Connect Wiring: Connect the speaker wires from the crossover's "Woofer" output to the terminals on the 6.5" speaker. Observe correct polarity.
  4. Mount Speaker: Secure the speaker into the prepared opening using the provided screws. Ensure a tight fit to prevent vibrations.
  5. Install Grille: Attach the protective grille over the speaker if desired.

4.3 Tweeter Installation

The 1" pivoting balanced dome tweeters offer flexible mounting options:

  1. Choose Mounting Location: Select a location that provides optimal sound imaging, typically higher up in the vehicle's cabin.
  2. Connect Wiring: Connect the tweeter wires from the crossover's "Tweeter" output to the terminals on the 1" tweeter. Observe correct polarity.
  3. Mount Tweeter: Install the tweeter using the chosen mounting method (flush or surface mount) and secure it.

4.4 Crossover Network Connection

The passive crossover network is crucial for directing the correct frequency ranges to the woofers and tweeters.

  1. Mount Crossover: Find a secure, dry location for the crossover, away from excessive heat or moisture.
  2. Input Connection: Connect the speaker wire from your amplifier's output to the "Input" terminals on the crossover.
  3. Woofer Output: Connect the speaker wire from the crossover's "Woofer" terminals to your 6.5" component speaker.
  4. Tweeter Output: Connect the speaker wire from the crossover's "Tweeter" terminals to your 1" tweeter.
