4. Operating Instructions

Follow these steps to wash and dry your salad greens:

  1. Prepare Greens: Separate the leaves of your salad greens and place them into the inner basket. Do not overfill the basket to allow for proper washing and spinning.
  2. Wash Greens: Rinse the greens thoroughly under running water while they are in the inner basket. You can also fill the outer bowl with water, submerge the inner basket with greens, and let them soak briefly to loosen dirt.
  3. Drain Excess Water: Lift the inner basket out of the outer bowl to let the initial excess water drain. Discard the water from the outer bowl.
  4. Assemble for Spinning: Place the inner basket with the washed greens back into the outer bowl. Secure the lid onto the bowl.
  5. Spin Dry: Hold the salad spinner firmly with one hand. Use the other hand to turn the crank handle on the lid. Spin for approximately 10-20 seconds, or until the greens appear dry. The centrifugal force will remove water from the greens, collecting it in the outer bowl.
  6. Discard Water: Once spinning is complete, carefully remove the lid. You can pour out the collected water from the outer bowl through the drainage hole on the lid (if applicable) or by removing the inner basket.
  7. Serve or Store: Your greens are now crisp and ready for use. The outer bowl can double as a serving bowl.

5. Maintenance and Cleaning

Proper care ensures the longevity of your salad spinner.

  • Hand Wash Only: All components of the IKEA TOKIG Salad Spinner should be hand washed. Use warm, soapy water and a soft sponge or cloth.
  • Do Not Dishwash: This product is not dishwasher safe. High temperatures in dishwashers can warp or damage the plastic components.
  • Avoid Microwave: Do not use any part of the salad spinner in a microwave.
  • Thorough Drying: After washing, ensure all parts are completely dry before reassembling or storing to prevent mildew or odors.

6. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your salad spinner, consider the following:

  • Greens Not Drying Effectively:
    • Ensure the inner basket is not overfilled. Overfilling can prevent proper spinning and water removal.
    • Spin for a longer duration or repeat the spinning process.
    • Check that the lid is securely fastened to the bowl.
  • Lid Not Spinning Smoothly:
    • Verify that the lid is correctly aligned and seated on the bowl.
    • Ensure no food particles are obstructing the spinning mechanism.
  • Water Leaking:
    • Confirm the lid is securely attached and the locking tabs (if any) are engaged.
    • Inspect the bowl and lid for any cracks or damage.
