5.3 Battery Care

  • The internal battery is primarily for saving settings and short-term recording after power loss. It is not designed for extended standalone operation.
  • Avoid exposing the device to extreme temperatures, which can degrade battery life.

6. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your Coby DCS-404, refer to the following common problems and solutions:

Problem: Dash cam does not power on.

  • Solution: Ensure the car charger is securely plugged into both the dash cam and the vehicle's 12V power outlet. Verify the vehicle's power outlet is functional.

Problem: Dash cam is not recording.

  • Solution: Check if a memory card is inserted correctly. Ensure the memory card is not full; format it if necessary (after backing up data). Verify that recording mode is active.

Problem: Video quality is poor or blurry.

  • Solution: Clean the camera lens and your windshield. Ensure the protective film has been removed from the lens. Check the video resolution setting in the menu and set it to the highest available (1280x960).

Problem: Dash cam shuts off unexpectedly.

  • Solution: This may indicate a power supply issue. Ensure the car charger is providing stable power. Check the internal battery level if the device is expected to operate briefly without external power.

Problem: Power cord is too short for desired routing.

  • Solution: Consider purchasing a longer compatible car charger cable for optimal cable management and routing around the vehicle's interior.
