2. Safety Information

WARNING: To prevent personal injury and/or equipment damage, read and understand the operating manual prior to operation.

  • Always wear proper personal protective equipment, including safety glasses and gloves. Do not breathe refrigerant vapor or mist.
  • Use this equipment in a well-ventilated area. If possible, operate the unit on the floor or at least 18 inches above the floor.
  • Always disconnect power from the unit prior to servicing.
  • Always use a DOT-approved recovery cylinder. Overfilling a cylinder (beyond 80% volume) can cause an explosion.
  • Do not exceed the pressure rating of the recovery cylinder.
  • Do not mix refrigerant types through a system or a container.
  • Always use a grounded 3-wire extension cord. A 12 AWG extension cord must be 14 AWG minimum and no longer than 25 feet.
  • Do not use this equipment in the vicinity of spilled or open containers of gasoline.
  • The machine is equipped with a high-pressure safety shut-off switch that automatically shuts off the machine if pressure rises above 550 PSI.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1. Refrigerant Recovery

  1. After completing the setup, open the liquid and vapor valves on the system being serviced.
  2. Open the outlet valve on the recovery cylinder.
  3. Turn the recovery machine ON.
  4. Slowly open the inlet valve on the recovery machine.
  5. Allow the machine to run until the desired vacuum is achieved. If the machine stalls, immediately close the inlet valve to prevent damage.

5.2. Self-Purge Feature

The self-purge feature helps eliminate potential cross-contamination between different refrigerants and saves time.

  1. After completing refrigerant recovery, close the inlet valve on the recovery machine.
  2. Change the purge valve from RECOVER to PURGE.
  3. Allow the machine to run until the desired vacuum is achieved.
  4. Note: The outlet valve on the recovery cylinder must remain open during the self-cleaning process.

5.3. Compatible Refrigerants

The RG6 is designed to work with a wide range of refrigerants, including:

  • CFCs
  • HFCs
  • HCFCs
  • R-410A

6. Maintenance

  • Filter Screen: Regularly clean or replace the inlet filter screen to ensure optimal performance and prevent impurities from entering the machine.
  • General Cleaning: Keep the exterior of the machine clean and free from debris.
  • Storage: Store the machine in a dry, clean environment when not in use.

7. Troubleshooting

  • Machine Stalls: If the machine stalls during recovery, immediately close the inlet valve to prevent damage. Check for excessive liquid refrigerant entering the machine or a clogged filter screen.
  • High Pressure Shut-off: If the machine shuts off due to high pressure (above 550 PSI), check for blockages in the outlet hose or an overfilled recovery cylinder. Allow the machine to cool before restarting.
  • Slow Recovery: Ensure all valves are fully open, hoses are correctly connected, and the filter screen is clean. Consider using larger diameter hoses for improved flow.
