- Experiment with different milk types and frother settings to find your preferred texture.
Cleaning and Maintenance
Regular cleaning ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your Breville Prima Latte machine.
Daily Cleaning
- Portafilter and Filter Baskets: After each use, remove the portafilter, discard the coffee grounds/pod, and rinse the portafilter and filter basket under warm water.
- Milk Frother: After preparing milk-based drinks, turn the frother dial to the 'Clean' position (if available) or run a short cycle with water to flush out milk residue. The milk reservoir can be detached and stored in the refrigerator with any remaining milk.
- Drip Tray: Empty and rinse the drip tray daily or when the 'Full' indicator appears.
- Exterior: Wipe the exterior of the machine with a damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners.
Descaling
Descaling is recommended every 3-4 months, depending on water hardness and usage, to remove mineral buildup and maintain machine efficiency.
- Ensure the water reservoir is filled with a descaling solution (follow the descaling product's instructions for dilution) or water if performing a rinse cycle.
- Empty the milk reservoir and drip tray.
- Place a large container under the coffee spout and milk frother.
- To initiate the descaling cycle, press and hold the 'Latte' button for approximately 3 seconds. The machine will begin an automatic cleaning/descaling process.
- Once the cycle is complete, rinse the water reservoir thoroughly and refill with fresh water. Run another cycle (without descaling solution) to flush out any remaining solution.
