Please check the contents of your package to ensure all items are present:

  • Eschenbach Viva 6x15 Binoculars (black)
  • Hand strap
  • Flat belt bag

3. Setup

3.1 Attaching the Hand Strap

  1. Locate the strap lugs on the side of the binoculars.
  2. Thread the hand strap through the lugs according to the instructions provided with the strap. Ensure it is securely fastened to prevent accidental drops.

3.2 Adjusting Pupillary Distance

The pupillary distance (the distance between your pupils) varies from person to person. To achieve a single, clear circular field of view:

  1. Hold the binoculars up to your eyes.
  2. Grasp each barrel firmly and move them closer together or further apart until you see a single, perfectly round image without any dark edges.

4. Operating the Binoculars

4.1 Holding the Binoculars

Hold the binoculars steady with both hands. For best stability, rest your elbows against your body or on a stable surface.

4.2 Focusing

The Eschenbach Viva 6x15 Binoculars feature a center focus system for quick and easy adjustment:

  1. Choose an object to view at a moderate distance.
  2. Look through the binoculars and rotate the central focus wheel until the image is sharp and clear.

4.3 Diopter Adjustment

The binoculars allow for diopter adjustment to compensate for differences in vision between your left and right eyes (range: +/-5 diopters). This model does not feature specific eyepieces for spectacle wearers, meaning you may need to remove your glasses for optimal viewing.

4.4 Field of View

The binoculars offer a wide field of view of 153 meters at 1,000 meters, allowing you to observe a broad area without constantly moving your head.

5. Maintenance

5.1 Cleaning the Lenses

To clean the lenses, use a soft, lint-free cloth specifically designed for optical surfaces. Gently wipe away dust or smudges. For stubborn dirt, a small amount of optical cleaning fluid can be applied to the cloth, not directly to the lens. Avoid using abrasive materials or excessive force, as this can scratch the lens coatings.

5.2 Storage

When not in use, store your binoculars in the provided flat belt bag in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. This protects them from dust, moisture, and physical damage.

5.3 Water Resistance

The Eschenbach Viva 6x15 Binoculars are waterproof. While they can withstand exposure to moisture, it is recommended to wipe them dry immediately after contact with water to prevent water spots and ensure longevity. Do not submerge the binoculars.

6. Troubleshooting

  • Image is blurry: Adjust the central focus wheel. Ensure the pupillary distance is correctly set for a single, circular field of view. If you wear glasses, try removing them.
  • Cannot achieve a single image: Adjust the pupillary distance by moving the barrels closer or further apart until the two images merge into one.
  • Dark edges in the field of view: This indicates incorrect pupillary distance. Adjust the barrels until the dark edges disappear and you see a full, clear circle.
  • Dust on lenses: Refer to the cleaning instructions in Section 5.1.
