1. Introduction

This manual provides essential information for setting up, operating, and maintaining your BlackBerry Classic Factory Unlocked Cellphone. The BlackBerry Classic combines a familiar design with the speed and performance of BlackBerry 10, offering a physical keyboard and a square touchscreen display.

2. Setup

2.1 Unboxing and Initial Inspection

Carefully remove all components from the packaging. Ensure the phone and all accessories are present and undamaged.

2.2 SIM Card and Memory Card Installation

The BlackBerry Classic supports GSM SIM cards. It is not compatible with CDMA carriers. Locate the SIM and SD card slots on the side of the device.

  1. Insert the provided SIM ejection tool into the small hole next to the SIM card tray.
  2. Gently push until the tray ejects.
  3. Place your GSM SIM card onto the tray with the gold contacts facing down.
  4. If using an optional microSD card for expanded storage, place it in the designated slot on the same tray.
  5. Carefully reinsert the tray into the phone until it clicks into place.

2.3 Battery Charging

The device comes with a built-in Lithium Ion battery. Before first use, fully charge the device using the provided charger.

  1. Connect the USB cable to the charging port on the bottom of the phone.
  2. Connect the other end of the USB cable to the power adapter.
  3. Plug the power adapter into a wall outlet.
  4. The battery indicator on the screen will show charging status. A full charge may take several hours.

2.4 Powering On/Off

  • To power on: Press and hold the Power/Lock button (located on the top edge) until the BlackBerry logo appears.
  • To power off: Press and hold the Power/Lock button, then select 'Power Off' from the on-screen options.

3. Operating Your BlackBerry Classic

3.1 Navigation and User Interface

The BlackBerry Classic features a 3.5-inch square touchscreen and a physical QWERTY keyboard, along with a trackpad and tool belt buttons for navigation.

  • Touchscreen: Swipe, tap, and pinch to interact with applications and menus.
  • Physical Keyboard: Type messages, emails, and search queries. Use keyboard shortcuts for quick actions.
  • Trackpad: Navigate through menus and text with precision, similar to a mouse.
  • Tool Belt Buttons: Dedicated buttons for Call, Menu, Back, and End Call functions.

3.2 Making and Receiving Calls

  • To make a call: Tap the Phone icon or press the dedicated Call button, then dial the number using the physical keypad or select a contact.
  • To receive a call: Press the dedicated Call button or swipe the answer icon on the touchscreen.

3.3 Messaging and Email (BlackBerry Hub)

The BlackBerry Hub consolidates all your communications in one place, including emails, text messages, and social media notifications.

  • Access the Hub by swiping from the left edge of the screen or tapping the Hub icon.
  • Compose new messages or emails directly from the Hub.
  • Manage multiple email accounts and social feeds efficiently.

3.4 Web Browsing

Utilize the built-in web browser for internet access. The device supports Wi-Fi and cellular data connectivity.

  • Open the Browser application from the home screen.
  • Type URLs using the physical keyboard or use the trackpad for navigation.

3.5 Camera Functions

The BlackBerry Classic features an 8 MP rear camera and a front camera for photos and video recording.

  • Open the Camera application.
  • Tap the screen to focus or press the volume buttons to capture a photo.
  • Switch between photo and video modes as needed.

3.6 Security Features

The BlackBerry Classic is designed with security in mind to keep private matters private.

  • Screen Lock: Set up a password, PIN, or picture password to secure your device.
  • Data Encryption: Your device's data is encrypted to protect your information.
  • Factory Reset Protection: Helps prevent unauthorized use of your device if it's lost or stolen.

4. Maintenance

4.1 General Care

To ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your BlackBerry Classic:

  • Keep the device clean using a soft, dry cloth.
  • Avoid exposing the device to extreme temperatures, direct sunlight, or moisture.
  • Handle with care; the device is built for reliability and durability but can still be damaged by severe impacts.

4.2 Battery Care

The device's battery powers through extended use. To maximize battery life:

  • Charge the battery regularly, avoiding complete discharge when possible.
  • Use only the original or certified compatible chargers.
  • Close unused applications running in the background to conserve power.

5. Troubleshooting

5.1 Network Connectivity Issues

  • Ensure your SIM card is correctly inserted and activated with a compatible GSM carrier (e.g., AT&T, T-Mobile, H20, Straight Talk).
  • Verify that you are within network coverage.
  • Restart your device to refresh network connections.
  • Note: This unlocked cellphone will not work with CDMA carriers like Sprint, Verizon, Boost, or Virgin.

5.2 Device Unresponsive

  • If the device is unresponsive, press and hold the Power/Lock button for approximately 10-15 seconds to force a restart.
  • Ensure the battery is charged. Connect to a charger and wait a few minutes before attempting to power on again.
