Setup

Before First Use

  1. Unpack the bread machine and remove all packaging materials.
  2. Wipe the exterior of the bread machine with a damp cloth.
  3. Wash the bread pan and kneading paddle with warm, soapy water. Rinse thoroughly and dry completely.
  4. Ensure all parts are dry before reassembling.

Placement

Place the bread machine on a stable, flat, heat-resistant surface, away from direct sunlight and heat sources. Ensure there is adequate ventilation around the appliance.

Operating Instructions

Adding Ingredients

Always add ingredients in the order specified by your recipe, typically liquids first, then dry ingredients, and finally yeast. Ensure the kneading paddle is properly installed in the bread pan before adding ingredients.

Selecting a Program

The Toastmaster Bread Machine Model 1152U features multiple pre-programmed cycles for various bread types. Refer to the control panel and the recipe section for specific program recommendations.

  • Basic: For white and mixed breads.
  • Whole Wheat: For whole wheat breads.
  • French: For light breads with a crispy crust.
  • Sweet: For breads with high sugar content.
  • Dough: Prepares dough for baking in a conventional oven.
  • Bake: For baking pre-made dough or for additional baking time.

Starting the Cycle

  1. Place the bread pan with ingredients into the bread machine.
  2. Close the lid securely.
  3. Plug the power cord into a grounded electrical outlet.
  4. Select the desired program using the "Menu" button.
  5. Choose the loaf size and crust color settings if applicable.
  6. Press the "Start/Stop" button to begin the cycle.

The machine will automatically perform kneading, rising, and baking stages. A beeping sound may indicate when to add additional ingredients (e.g., fruits, nuts) during the kneading cycle.

Maintenance and Cleaning

Cleaning the Bread Pan and Kneading Paddle

After each use, allow the bread pan and kneading paddle to cool completely. Fill the bread pan with warm water and a small amount of dish soap. Let it soak for 10-15 minutes to loosen any stuck-on dough. Use a soft sponge or cloth to clean. Do not use abrasive cleaners or metal utensils, as these can damage the non-stick coating. Rinse thoroughly and dry completely before storage.

Cleaning the Exterior

Wipe the exterior of the bread machine with a soft, damp cloth. Do not immerse the appliance in water or any other liquid. Ensure the machine is unplugged and cool before cleaning.

Storage

Store the bread machine in a clean, dry place when not in use. Ensure the bread pan and kneading paddle are clean and dry before storing them inside the machine.
