4. Operating Instructions

4.1 Power On/Off:

Once all connections are secure, apply AC input power. The LED indicator on the rear panel will illuminate, indicating power is supplied. The unit can be remotely turned ON/OFF via the CN2 connector.

4.2 Output Voltage Adjustment (V-Adj):

The output voltage can be finely adjusted using the V-Adj potentiometer located on the rear panel. For programmable voltage control, utilize the remote setting functions via the CN2 interface.

4.3 Programmable Output:

The AE-1500-48 allows for programmable output voltage (0%~105%) and current (0%~105%) via the RS-232, RS-485, or I2C communication interfaces. Refer to the detailed communication protocol documentation for programming commands and procedures.

4.4 Remote Sense Function:

The remote sense function compensates for voltage drop across the load wires, ensuring accurate voltage delivery to the load. Connect the remote sense lines from the CN2 connector directly to the load terminals.

4.5 Parallel Operation and Current Sharing:

Multiple AE-1500 series units can be operated in parallel for increased output current. The forced current sharing feature ensures balanced load distribution among parallel units. Consult the advanced operation manual for detailed instructions on parallel configuration.

5. Maintenance

The COTEK AE-1500-48 is designed for reliable operation with minimal maintenance. However, periodic checks can help ensure optimal performance.

5.1 Cleaning:

Periodically inspect the cooling fans and ventilation openings for dust accumulation. Clean with a soft brush or compressed air to maintain proper airflow. Ensure the unit is powered off and disconnected from the AC supply before cleaning.

5.2 Fan Check:

Ensure the cooling fans are operating normally when the unit is powered on. The power supply includes fan failure detection as a protection mechanism.

5.3 Connections:

Periodically check all input and output connections for tightness and signs of wear or corrosion.

6. Troubleshooting

The AE-1500-48 is equipped with several protection features to ensure safe operation. If the unit is not functioning as expected, consider the following:

  • No Output Power:
    • Check AC input power connection and ensure the source is active.
    • Verify the remote ON/OFF function is not engaged in the OFF state.
    • Check for activation of Over Voltage Protection (OVP), Over Load Protection (OLP), or Over Temperature Protection (OTP). These protections will shut down the output.
  • Output Voltage Incorrect:
    • Verify the V-Adj potentiometer setting.
    • If using programmable control, check the communication settings and commands.
    • Ensure remote sense lines are correctly connected and not reversed.
  • Overheating / Fan Noise:
    • Check for blocked ventilation openings or dirty fans.
    • Ensure ambient temperature is within specified operating range.
    • A fan failure will trigger protection and may shut down the unit.
  • Power OK Signal:
    • If the Power OK signal is not active, it indicates an issue with the power supply's output or internal status. Refer to the protection mechanisms.

For issues not resolved by these steps, contact COTEK technical support.
