Operating the Meter: Blood Glucose Testing
Preparing the Lancing Device
If you are using a lancing device and lancet:
- Unscrew the adjustable cap of the lancing device.
- Insert a new, sterile lancet by pushing down firmly until fully seated.
- Twist off the protective cover from the lancet.
- Twist the adjustable cap back onto the lancing device.
- Adjust the puncture setting on the adjustable cap (1 for lightest, 5 for deepest).
- Pull back the lancing device until you hear a click, indicating it is ready for use.
For fingertip testing, use the opaque adjustable cap. For alternate site testing (palm or forearm), use the clear cap. Consult your user manual for guidance on alternate site testing.
Performing a Blood Glucose Test
- Wash your hands with soap and warm water, then dry them thoroughly. If using an alcohol wipe, ensure the area is completely dry before sampling.
- Take out a new EvenCare G2 test strip from its bottle and immediately close the bottle cap.
- Insert the test strip into the meter. The meter will turn on and display a flashing blood drop and arrow icon. If voice guidance is enabled, it will announce, "Please apply blood onto the test strip."
- Use the lancing device to obtain a blood sample. For fingertip testing, hold the lancing device against the side of your fingertip and press the release button. For alternate site testing on your palm or forearm, apply and release pressure for a few seconds while keeping the lancing device in contact with the skin, then press the release button.
- Gently touch the tip of the test strip to the drop of blood at a slight angle. The test strip will draw the blood in. Keep the test strip in the blood drop until the meter beeps, indicating sufficient blood for testing.
- After approximately 6 seconds, your blood glucose test result will appear on the display screen and will be announced verbally if the voice feature is turned on.
- Your test result will be automatically stored in the meter's memory.

Control Solution Testing (Troubleshooting)
Control solution testing verifies that your EvenCare G2 meter and test strips are working correctly. Perform a control solution test when:
- You are using the meter for the first time.
- You are using a new bottle of test strips.
- You left the test strip bottle cap open for a period.
- You dropped the meter.
- You suspect your meter or test strips are not working properly.
- Your blood glucose test results do not reflect how you feel.
- You want to practice the testing procedure.
Important: Only use EvenCare G2 Glucose Control Solution and Test Strips with the EvenCare G2 meter. Other brands will produce inaccurate results.
Performing a Control Solution Test
You will need: EvenCare G2 Control Solution (Low and High), your EvenCare G2 Meter, and a new EvenCare G2 Blood Glucose Test Strip.
- Take out a new EvenCare G2 test strip and immediately close the bottle.
- Insert the test strip into the meter to turn it on.
- Wait for the flashing blood drop and arrow icons to appear. The meter will announce, "Please apply blood onto the test strip."
- Press the down arrow button to enter "L1" (Low Control Solution Testing). The meter will announce, "L1 Control Solution Test. Please apply control solution onto the test strip."
- Squeeze a drop of control solution onto a clean, dry, non-absorbent surface. Do not apply control solution directly from the bottle to the test strip.
- Gently touch the drop of control solution to the tip of the test strip. The meter will beep, and after 6 seconds, the result will appear.
- Compare the reading on the screen to the low range printed on the test strip bottle or its package.
- Properly discard the used test strip.
- Follow the same steps to perform a high control solution test.
Interpreting Control Solution Results
If the reading falls outside the low and high ranges printed on the test strip bottle or its package, please consult this user manual's troubleshooting section or contact customer support.
High or Low Blood Glucose Readings
If the meter displays results that are "HI" (High) or "LO" (Low), or if you get results more than 250 mg/dL or below 50 mg/dL:
- AND you feel ill: Treat your diabetes according to your doctor's instructions or consult your healthcare provider immediately.
- AND you DO NOT feel ill: Test your meter with the control solution, and then test again using your fingertip. If you still get a high or low reading, contact your healthcare professional.
