Safety Features
The Britax Boulevard G4.1 Convertible Car Seat is designed with advanced safety technologies to protect your child.
Safecell Impact Protection
Safecell Impact Protection is an integrated system of safety components, including an impact-absorbing base, tether, and harness, an impact-stabilizing steel frame, and complete side impact protection plus. This system works together to provide comprehensive crash protection.
Complete Side Impact Protection Plus

Impact Absorbing Base

Click & Safe Snug Harness Indicator
The Click & Safe Snug Harness Indicator provides an audible click to assist you in properly tightening your child's harness, ensuring a secure fit every time.
Setup and Installation
Proper installation is crucial for child safety. Always refer to your vehicle's owner's manual for specific car seat installation instructions and locations.
Rear-Facing Installation
- The car seat is designed for rear-facing use for children weighing between 5 and 40 pounds (2.27 to 18.14 kg).
- Ensure the car seat is installed at the correct recline angle for rear-facing, typically indicated by a level indicator on the seat.
- Use either the vehicle's lower anchors (LATCH system) or the vehicle's seat belt to secure the car seat. Never use both simultaneously unless explicitly instructed by the car seat manual.
- Press firmly on the car seat while tightening the LATCH connectors or seat belt to remove slack. The car seat should not move more than one inch side-to-side or front-to-back at the belt path.
Forward-Facing Installation
- The car seat is designed for forward-facing use for children weighing between 20 and 65 pounds (9.07 to 29.48 kg) and up to 49 inches (124.5 cm) tall.
- Always use the top tether when installing the car seat forward-facing. Attach the tether strap to the designated anchor point in your vehicle and tighten it securely.
- As with rear-facing, use either the LATCH system or the vehicle's seat belt for installation.
Operating Instructions
Securing Your Child
- Place your child in the car seat with their back flat against the seat back.
- Bring the harness straps over your child's shoulders and between their legs.
- Buckle the crotch strap into the buckle.
- Connect the chest clips together and position them at armpit level.
- Tighten the harness straps until snug. Listen for the audible click from the Click & Safe Snug Harness Indicator. The harness should be tight enough that you cannot pinch any excess webbing at your child's shoulder.
Harness Height Adjustment
The harness height can be adjusted without rethreading. Locate the harness height adjustment handle at the top of the car seat. Squeeze the handle and slide the headrest and harness system up or down to the appropriate position. For rear-facing, the harness straps should be at or slightly below your child's shoulders. For forward-facing, the harness straps should be at or slightly above your child's shoulders.
Maintenance
Cleaning the Car Seat
- Fabric Cover: The car seat cover can be removed for cleaning. Refer to the care label on the fabric for specific washing instructions. Typically, machine wash with cold water on a delicate cycle and tumble dry on low heat or air dry. Do not use bleach.
- Harness Straps: Wipe harness straps with a damp cloth. Do not machine wash, bleach, or immerse harness straps in water, as this can weaken the webbing.
- Buckle: Clean the buckle by rinsing it with warm water. Do not use soaps or detergents.
- Shell and Base: Wipe the plastic shell and base with a damp cloth and mild soap.
Inspection
Regularly inspect the car seat for any signs of damage, wear, or missing parts. Check the harness webbing, buckles, and LATCH connectors for proper function. If any components are damaged, discontinue use and contact Britax customer service.

Harness Straps Are Difficult to Tighten or Loosen

- Make sure the chest clip is unbuckled before attempting to loosen the harness.
Buckle Is Sticking
