Introduction
This manual provides instructions for the setup, operation, and maintenance of your Mitel 6867i SIP Phone. The Mitel 6867i is designed for users requiring advanced communication features and high-quality audio. It features HD wideband audio, an enhanced speakerphone, dual Gigabit Ethernet ports, a large color LCD display, and programmable keys.

Setup
Follow these steps to set up your Mitel 6867i SIP Phone. Ensure all components are present before beginning.
1. Unpacking and Component Check
Carefully remove all items from the packaging. Verify that the following components are included:
- Mitel 6867i SIP Phone base unit
- Handset
- Handset cord
- Ethernet cable
- Desk stand
- (Power supply not included - typically sold separately or provided by your service provider)
2. Attaching the Desk Stand
Align the desk stand with the slots on the back of the phone unit. Press firmly until it clicks into place. The stand allows for two viewing angles.
3. Connecting the Handset
Connect one end of the coiled handset cord to the handset and the other end to the handset port on the phone base unit.
4. Network and Power Connections
The Mitel 6867i supports Power over Ethernet (PoE) or an optional AC power adapter (not included).
- Ethernet Connection: Connect one end of the Ethernet cable to the LAN port on the back of the phone and the other end to a network switch or router. If using PoE, the phone will power on automatically.
- Optional AC Power (if not using PoE): If PoE is not available, connect an appropriate 48V AC power adapter (not included) to the power port on the back of the phone, then plug the adapter into a wall outlet.

5. Initial Boot-up
Once connected, the phone will power on and begin its boot-up sequence. This may take a few minutes as it connects to the network and registers with your VoIP service provider. The display will show progress and eventually indicate readiness for use.
Operating Instructions
Making a Call
- Lift Handset: Lift the handset, or press the Speakerphone button, or press an available Line key.
- Dial Number: Dial the desired phone number using the keypad.
- Press Dial/Send: Press the Dial soft key (if available) or wait for the call to connect automatically.
Answering a Call
- Lift Handset: Lift the handset.
- Press Speakerphone: Press the Speakerphone button.
- Press Answer Soft Key: Press the Answer soft key displayed on the screen.
Ending a Call
- Hang Up: Place the handset back in its cradle.
- Press End Call: Press the End Call soft key or the Speakerphone button (if using speakerphone).
Volume Control
Use the Volume buttons (typically located below the display) to adjust the handset, speakerphone, or ringer volume.
Using the Speakerphone
Press the Speakerphone button to activate or deactivate the speakerphone function during a call.
Using a Headset
Connect a compatible headset to the headset port on the phone. Press the Headset button to switch between headset and handset/speakerphone modes. The Mitel 6867i supports native DHSG/EHS headsets.
Call Management Features
- Hold: During an active call, press the Hold button or soft key. The call will be placed on hold. Press again to resume.
- Transfer: During an active call, press the Transfer button or soft key. Dial the number to transfer to, then press Transfer again (for blind transfer) or wait for the party to answer and announce the call before pressing Transfer (for attended transfer).
- Conference: During an active call, press the Conference button or soft key. Dial the number of the third party. Once connected, press Conference again to join all parties.
Maintenance
Proper care and maintenance will ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your Mitel 6867i SIP Phone.
- Cleaning: Use a soft, slightly damp, lint-free cloth to clean the phone's surfaces. Avoid using harsh chemicals, abrasive cleaners, or aerosol sprays, as these can damage the finish and internal components.
- Display Care: For the LCD display, use a screen-specific cleaner if necessary, applied to a cloth, not directly to the screen.
- Environment: Keep the phone away from excessive heat, direct sunlight, and moisture. Ensure it is placed on a stable surface.
- Cords: Regularly check all cords (handset, Ethernet) for any signs of wear or damage. Replace if necessary.
Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your Mitel 6867i SIP Phone, refer to the following common problems and solutions.
No Power/Display Off
- Check Power Source: Ensure the Ethernet cable is securely connected to a PoE-enabled port, or that the AC power adapter (if used) is properly connected to the phone and a working power outlet.
- Verify PoE: Confirm that the network switch port provides Power over Ethernet.
- Try Different Outlet/Port: Test with a different power outlet or network port.
No Dial Tone
- Network Connection: Ensure the Ethernet cable is securely connected and the network is active.
- SIP Registration: Check the phone's display for any "Not Registered" or "Network Error" messages. Contact your VoIP service provider if the phone fails to register.
- Reboot Phone: Disconnect and reconnect the power source to reboot the phone.
Poor Audio Quality
- Network Congestion: High network traffic can affect call quality. Check your internet connection speed and other network usage.
- Cable Connections: Ensure all cables (handset, headset, Ethernet) are securely connected.
- Volume Settings: Adjust the volume using the volume buttons.
- Handset/Headset Issue: Test with speakerphone or a different handset/headset if possible.
Keys Not Responding
- Reboot Phone: Perform a power cycle by disconnecting and reconnecting the power.
- Clean Phone: Ensure no debris is lodged around the buttons.
