Package Contents
Verify that all components are present before beginning assembly:
- Main Gate Section with Walk-Thru Door and Pet Door
- Extension Panels (4-inch and 6-inch, quantity may vary based on model)
- Pressure Mount Bolts (4)
- Wall Cups (4)
- Mounting Screws (for optional hardware mounting)
Setup
The Carlson Pet Gate utilizes a pressure-mount system for quick and easy installation. Optional hardware mounting is available for added security.
Pressure Mount Installation:
- Determine Width: Measure the opening where the gate will be installed. Select the appropriate combination of extension panels to fit the opening. The gate can extend up to 44 inches wide.
- Attach Extension Panels: Slide the extension panels onto the main gate section. Ensure they are securely connected.
- Insert Pressure Mount Bolts: Thread the four pressure mount bolts into the corners of the gate frame.
- Position Gate: Place the gate in the desired opening. Ensure the bottom bar is flush with the floor.
- Adjust Pressure: Rotate the adjustment wheels on the pressure mount bolts clockwise to extend them until they make firm contact with the walls or door frame. Continue tightening evenly until the gate is secure and does not move when pushed. The gap at the top latch mechanism should be minimal but allow for proper closing.
- Install Wall Cups (Optional but Recommended): For enhanced stability, attach the included wall cups to the wall at the points where the pressure mount bolts make contact. Use the provided screws for this step.

A smaller pet door (10x7 inches) is integrated into the main gate, allowing small pets to pass through while larger pets remain contained.
- To Open: Slide the small latch on the pet door upwards. Gently push the pet door inwards or outwards.
- To Close: Push the pet door back into its frame until it clicks into place. Slide the latch downwards to secure it.

Maintenance
To ensure the longevity and proper function of your pet gate, follow these maintenance guidelines:
- Cleaning: Wipe the gate with a damp cloth and mild soap as needed. Avoid abrasive cleaners or harsh chemicals that could damage the finish.
- Inspection: Periodically inspect all parts for wear, damage, or loose connections. Pay close attention to the pressure mount bolts, hinges, and latch mechanism.
- Tightening: Re-tighten the pressure mount bolts if the gate feels loose or shifts.
Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Gate feels loose or shifts | Insufficient pressure from mounting bolts. | Tighten the adjustment wheels on all four pressure mount bolts evenly until the gate is firm. Consider using the wall cups for added stability. |
| Main gate latch is difficult to operate or does not close properly | Gate is too tight or misaligned. | Slightly loosen the pressure mount bolts until the latch operates smoothly. Ensure the gate is level and aligned within the opening. |
| Pet door does not open/close smoothly | Debris in hinge or latch, or minor misalignment. | Clean the pet door hinges and latch area. Check for any obstructions. Ensure the main gate is not overly tightened, which can distort the frame. |
