Installation Guide
Follow these steps to install your MiLocks DF-02SN Electronic Keyless Entry Touchpad Deadbolt. A Philips screwdriver is the only tool required.
Step 1: Install the Strike Plate
- Use the included screws to fasten the strike plate onto the frame of your door.
Step 2: Install the Door Latch
- Determine the correct backset setting for your door latch (2 3/8 inches or 2 3/4 inches). Twist the latch to extend or retract as needed.
- Ensure the 'UP' label on the latch is oriented correctly before inserting it into the door.
- Insert the latch into the door and secure it with the included screws.
- Test the latch mechanism with a screwdriver to ensure it moves freely and keep it in the UNLOCKED position.
Step 3: Install the Front Module
- Remove the keys from the front module to avoid complications during installation.
- Identify the wire connection and the drive bar on the back of the front module. The drive bar engages the latch by turning.
- Thread the connection wire through the bottom opening of the door and the drive bar through the center.
- Ensure the drive bar is oriented vertically when going through the cross slot of the latch. Incorrect orientation will prevent the lock from functioning.
Step 4: Install the Mounting Plate
- Place the mounting plate over the drive bar and connection wire.
- Ensure the rounded bump on the mounting plate is flush with the surface of your door.
- Fasten the mounting plate with screws, but do not overtighten initially to allow for slight adjustments.
Step 5: Install the Back Module
- Remove the battery cover from the back module.
- Ensure the thumb-turn on the back module is in the UNLOCKED position (turned away from the latch).
- Connect the two wires from the front and back modules.
- Install the back module, making sure the drive bar goes into the cross slot.
- Secure the back module with the mounting screws.
- Insert 4 brand new AA alkaline batteries into the battery tray.
- Slide the battery cover back on.
