The Commercial Electric 5-inch and 6-inch Recessed LED Trim is designed for glare-free lighting in various indoor and outdoor settings. This ETL classified, high-efficiency, dimmable trim is Energy Star certified, promoting energy savings. It is compatible with most household dimmer switches for adjustable illumination and further energy reduction.

This LED trim is suitable for use with both 5-inch and 6-inch IC (Insulated Ceiling) and non-IC recessed housings. It can also retrofit existing 5-inch and 6-inch incandescent housings to energy-saving LED downlights. With an 11-Watt LED, it provides light output comparable to a BR30/65-Watt incandescent bulb. Its wet location rating makes it suitable for shower and exterior applications.

2. Safety Information

5. Installation Instructions

5.1 Pre-Installation

• Tools Required: Screwdriver, Wire Strippers (if needed).
• Safety First: Turn off power at the circuit breaker before starting.
• Ensure the existing recessed housing is compatible (5-inch or 6-inch).

5.2 Installation Steps

1. Turn Off Power: Locate the circuit breaker controlling the light fixture and turn it OFF.
2. Remove Existing Bulb and Trim: Carefully remove the existing light bulb and trim from the recessed housing.
3. Install Socket Adapter: Screw the provided medium base socket adapter into the existing light socket within the recessed housing.
4. Connect LED Trim: Connect the orange tabs (quick connectors) from the LED trim to the corresponding connector on the socket adapter. Ensure a secure connection.
5. Insert Trim into Housing: Gently push the LED trim up into the recessed housing. The torsion springs or friction clips on the trim will secure it in place. Ensure the trim sits flush with the ceiling.
6. Restore Power: Turn the power back ON at the circuit breaker.
7. Test Functionality: Test the light to ensure it operates correctly.

6. Operating Instructions

The Commercial Electric T65 Recessed LED Trim is designed for simple operation once installed.

• Power On/Off: Use your standard wall switch to turn the light fixture on or off.
• Dimming Function: This LED trim is dimmable from 10% to 100% with most household dimmers. For optimal performance, use dimmers compatible with LED lighting.
• Light Color: The trim provides a 2700K soft white light, which is ideal for creating a warm and inviting atmosphere.

7. Maintenance

The Commercial Electric T65 Recessed LED Trim requires minimal maintenance.

• Cleaning: Ensure power is off before cleaning. Wipe the trim with a soft, dry, or slightly damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
• No User-Serviceable Parts: The LED components are integrated and not user-replaceable. Do not attempt to disassemble the unit.
• Longevity: With a rated life of 50,000 hours, this LED trim is designed for long-term, maintenance-free operation under normal conditions.

8. Troubleshooting

If you experience issues with your LED trim, refer to the following common problems and solutions:

• Light does not turn on:
  • Check if the power is ON at the circuit breaker.
  • Ensure all electrical connections are secure, especially the quick connector and socket adapter.
  • Verify that the existing light socket is functional.
• Light flickers or dims improperly:
  • Ensure you are using a compatible LED dimmer. Refer to Section 6.1 for a list of tested dimmers.
  • Check for loose wiring connections.
  • Some dimmers require a minimum load; ensure enough LED trims are connected to the circuit if experiencing issues with a single unit.
• Light is not flush with the ceiling:
  • Ensure the torsion springs or friction clips are properly engaged with the recessed housing.
  • Verify that no wires are pinched or obstructing the trim's seating.
