Image: The PROFLO PFXSC32C Multi Turn Straight Supply Stop with Strainer, featuring a chrome finish and a multi-turn handle. This image displays the valve's overall design and connection points.

The PROFLO PFXSC32C is a straight supply stop valve designed for reliable water flow control. It features a 5/8" compression inlet and a 3/8" compression outlet. The multi-turn handle allows for precise control over water flow. An integrated strainer is included to filter out sediment and debris, protecting your plumbing fixtures.

Setup and Installation

Tools Required:

  • Adjustable wrench or basin wrench
  • Pipe cutter (if cutting new supply lines)
  • Teflon tape (optional, for threaded connections if applicable)
  • Bucket and towels (for catching drips)

Installation Steps:

  1. Turn off Water Supply: Locate the main water shut-off valve for your home or the specific area where you are working and turn it off. Open a nearby faucet to relieve pressure and drain any remaining water from the lines.
  2. Prepare the Inlet Pipe: Ensure the existing pipe (typically 5/8" OD) is clean, smooth, and free of burrs. If replacing an old valve, remove it and clean the pipe end.
  3. Install Compression Nut and Ferrule: Slide the compression nut (included with the valve) onto the pipe, followed by the compression ferrule (ring). Ensure the ferrule is oriented correctly.
  4. Attach the Supply Stop: Insert the pipe end with the nut and ferrule into the inlet of the PROFLO PFXSC32C supply stop. Hand-tighten the compression nut onto the valve body.
  5. Tighten Connection: Using an adjustable wrench, carefully tighten the compression nut. Turn it about 1/2 to 3/4 of a turn past hand-tight. Do not overtighten, as this can damage the ferrule or valve.
  6. Connect Fixture Supply Line: Attach the 3/8" supply line from your faucet or toilet to the outlet of the supply stop. Hand-tighten the nut, then use a wrench to tighten it an additional 1/4 to 1/2 turn.
  7. Restore Water Supply and Check for Leaks: Slowly turn the main water supply back on. Check all connections for leaks. If a leak occurs, tighten the connection slightly until the leak stops.

Operating Instructions

The PROFLO PFXSC32C is a multi-turn valve, meaning it requires several rotations of the handle to fully open or close the water flow.

  • To Open: Turn the handle counter-clockwise until it stops. This will allow full water flow to the connected fixture.
  • To Close: Turn the handle clockwise until it stops. This will completely shut off the water flow to the connected fixture.
  • To Adjust Flow: Turn the handle partially to achieve a desired reduced water flow rate.

Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance and extends the life of your supply stop.

  • Cleaning: Clean the exterior chrome finish with a soft cloth and mild soap. Avoid abrasive cleaners or harsh chemicals, as they can damage the finish.
  • Strainer Cleaning: If water flow to the fixture becomes restricted, the integrated strainer may be clogged. To clean, turn off the water supply at the supply stop, disconnect the fixture supply line, and carefully remove the strainer screen. Rinse it under running water to remove debris, then reassemble.
  • Leak Checks: Periodically inspect the connections for any signs of leaks. Tighten connections slightly if necessary.
  • Operation: Operate the valve fully open and fully closed a few times annually to prevent mineral buildup and ensure smooth operation.

Troubleshooting
