3. Setup
3.1 Unpacking
- Carefully remove the iron and all accessories from the packaging.
- Remove any protective film or stickers from the soleplate.
- Keep packaging materials away from children.
3.2 First Use Preparation
- Before first use, it is recommended to iron an old piece of fabric (e.g., a cotton cloth) to remove any manufacturing residues from the soleplate.
- Fill the water tank as described in the 'Operating' section and use the steam function on the test fabric to flush out any impurities from the steam vents.
4. Operating the Iron
4.1 Filling the Water Tank
- Ensure the iron is unplugged from the power outlet.
- Set the steam control slider to the 'Dry Ironing' position (no steam).
- Open the water filling inlet cover.
- Using a measuring cup, carefully pour tap water into the tank up to the 'MAX' mark. Do not overfill.
- Close the water filling inlet cover securely.
4.2 Temperature Setting
- Place the iron on its heel rest on a stable, heat-resistant surface.
- Plug the iron into a suitable power outlet.
- Turn the temperature control dial to the desired setting according to the fabric type. Refer to the garment care label for guidance.
- The indicator light will illuminate, indicating the iron is heating. It will turn off when the set temperature is reached.
4.3 Steam Ironing
Steam ironing is suitable for most fabrics except those marked 'do not steam'.
- Ensure the water tank is filled.
- Set the temperature control dial to a steam-suitable setting (usually between '••' and 'MAX'). The indicator light will turn off when ready.
- Once the iron reaches the set temperature, slide the steam control slider to the desired steam position. The iron provides a continuous steam output of approximately 20 g/min.
- For stubborn creases, press the Steam Shot Button to release a powerful burst of steam (up to 70 g). Wait a few seconds between shots to allow the iron to reheat.
- The Anti-Drip System prevents water from dripping from the soleplate when the iron is not hot enough for steam, protecting your garments from water stains.

4.4 Dry Ironing
- For dry ironing, ensure the water tank is empty or set the steam control slider to the 'Dry Ironing' position.
- Set the temperature control dial according to the fabric type.
- Proceed with ironing as usual.
4.5 Spray Function
- The spray function can be used during both steam and dry ironing to moisten fabric.
- Ensure the water tank is filled.
- Press the Spray Button to release a fine mist of water onto the fabric.
5. Maintenance
5.1 Cleaning the Soleplate
To maintain the smooth glide of the stainless steel soleplate:
- Always unplug the iron and allow it to cool completely before cleaning.
- Wipe the soleplate with a damp cloth and a non-abrasive cleaner if necessary.
- Do not use abrasive scouring pads or harsh chemicals, as these can damage the soleplate.

5.2 Anti-Calc System
The Ufesa PV1000 Activa features a Double Anti-Calc System to reduce limescale build-up and prolong the life of your iron. While this system helps, regular maintenance is still recommended, especially in hard water areas.
- Periodically perform a self-clean function if available (refer to specific instructions if a dedicated button is present, otherwise, use steam shot function with distilled water).
- Always empty the water tank after each use to prevent limescale accumulation.
5.3 Storage
- After use, unplug the iron and allow it to cool completely.
- Empty any remaining water from the tank.
- Store the iron upright on its heel rest in a dry, safe place.
6. Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your iron, consult the following table before contacting customer support.
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Iron does not heat up. | Not plugged in; power outlet faulty; temperature dial set to 'MIN'. | Check power connection; test outlet with another appliance; turn temperature dial to desired setting. |
| No steam or insufficient steam. | Water tank empty; temperature too low for steam; steam control slider set to 'Dry Ironing'; steam vents blocked. | Fill water tank; set temperature to steam-suitable range; move steam control slider to steam position; perform self-clean or descale. |
| Water drips from soleplate. | Temperature too low for steam (Anti-Drip System active); iron tilted too much. | Allow iron to reach full steam temperature; ensure iron is held horizontally during steaming. |
| White flakes or brown stains on fabric. | Limescale build-up; impurities in water. | Perform anti-calc cleaning; use distilled or demineralized water in hard water areas. |
