3. Setup

3.1 Connecting the Microphone

  1. Identify the TRRS Jack: The Movo PM10 features a 3.5mm TRRS compatible jack. This is designed to plug directly into the headphone/microphone jack of most smartphones and tablets.
  2. For Newer iPhones: If your iPhone does not have a 3.5mm jack (e.g., iPhone 7 and newer), you will need a Lightning to 3.5mm Headphone Jack Adapter (not included) to connect the microphone.
  3. Plug and Play: Simply insert the 3.5mm TRRS jack firmly into your device's audio port. No batteries are required for operation.

3.2 Attaching the Microphone

Use the included metal lapel clip to attach the microphone securely to your clothing. For optimal sound quality, position the microphone approximately 6-8 inches (15-20 cm) from your mouth, typically clipped to a shirt collar or lapel.

3.3 Using the Foam Windscreen

The foam windscreen helps to reduce plosive sounds (like 'p' and 'b' sounds) and minimize wind noise when recording outdoors. Gently slide one of the foam windscreens over the microphone capsule.

4. Operating the Microphone

4.1 Optimal Placement

For the best audio capture, ensure the microphone is positioned correctly. The omnidirectional polar pattern means it captures sound equally from all directions. This makes it versatile for various recording situations, but placing it too far from the sound source can pick up unwanted ambient noise.

4.2 Recording with Your Device

Once connected, open your preferred audio or video recording application on your smartphone. The device should automatically recognize the external microphone. Begin recording as usual. Monitor your audio levels if your application provides this feature to ensure clear, undistorted sound.

5. Maintenance

5.1 Cleaning

To maintain optimal performance, periodically clean the microphone. Gently wipe the microphone body and cable with a soft, dry cloth. The foam windscreen can be carefully removed and rinsed with mild soap and water, then allowed to air dry completely before reattaching.

5.2 Storage

When not in use, store the Movo PM10 microphone in the provided carrying travel bag. This protects it from dust, dirt, and physical damage, extending its lifespan.
