3. System Overview

3.1 Camera Features

4. Setup

  1. Connect Cameras: Use the provided BNC cables to connect each camera to the 'VIDEO IN' ports on the back of the DVR.
  2. Power Cameras: Use the 1-to-4 power splitter to connect the cameras to a power supply.
  3. Connect Monitor: Connect a monitor to the DVR using either the HDMI or VGA port.
  4. Connect Mouse: Plug the USB mouse into one of the USB ports on the DVR.
  5. Connect Network (Optional for Remote Access): Connect an Ethernet cable from your router to the 'LAN' port on the DVR.
  6. Power DVR: Connect the DVR to its power supply.

4.2 Initial DVR Setup

Upon first power-up, the DVR will guide you through an initial setup wizard. Follow the on-screen prompts to configure basic settings such as language, time, and video output resolution.

  3. Add Device: Follow the in-app instructions to add your DVR system. This typically involves scanning a QR code on the DVR or manually entering device details.
  4. Enjoy Live View: Once connected, you can view live camera feeds and access recorded footage remotely.

5. Operating the System

5.1 AI Human and Vehicle Detection

The system features advanced AI detection capabilities to distinguish between human and vehicle movements, reducing false alarms caused by animals or environmental factors. When a person or vehicle is detected, you will receive instant alerts.

5.2 Night Vision

The cameras are equipped with 24 infrared LEDs, providing clear black and white night vision up to 80 feet in complete darkness. The automatic IR-CUT filter ensures optimal image quality by switching between day and night modes.

5.3 Remote Access and Alerts

Access your security system from anywhere using the ZOSI Smart app on your smartphone, tablet, or computer. The app allows for live viewing, playback of recorded footage, and instant push notifications or email alerts when motion is detected.

5.4 Continuous Recording and Storage

The system supports 24/7 continuous recording. It utilizes H.265+ video compression technology, which significantly reduces file sizes by over 50% compared to H.264, allowing for longer recording times and more efficient storage usage. Please note that this system does not include a hard drive. You will need to install a 500GB to 2TB 3.5-inch SATA hard drive for video storage. The DVR supports up to 8TB HDD.

5.5 Privacy Protection

You can customize motion detection zones for each camera to focus monitoring on specific areas and reduce unwanted alerts. Additionally, the system allows for privacy masking, enabling you to block out areas within the camera's view that you do not wish to record.

6. Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance and longevity of your security system.

  • Camera Cleaning: Periodically clean the camera lenses with a soft, damp cloth to remove dust, dirt, or water spots that may affect image clarity. Avoid abrasive cleaners.
  • Cable Inspection: Regularly check all cables (BNC, power, Ethernet) for any signs of wear, damage, or loose connections. Secure or replace as necessary.
  • DVR Placement: Ensure the DVR is placed in a well-ventilated area, away from direct sunlight, heat sources, and moisture, to prevent overheating.
  • Software Updates: Check the ZOSI website or app for available firmware updates for your DVR to ensure you have the latest features and security patches.
  • Hard Drive Health: If a hard drive is installed, monitor its health through the DVR's system settings to prevent data loss.

7. Troubleshooting

This section addresses common issues you might encounter with your ZOSI security system.

  • No Video Display:
    • Ensure all camera BNC cables are securely connected to the DVR.
    • Verify that cameras are receiving power. Check power adapters and splitters.
    • Confirm the monitor is correctly connected to the DVR via HDMI or VGA and is set to the correct input source.
    • Restart the DVR.
  • No Recording/Storage Issues:
    • This system does not include a hard drive. Ensure a compatible 3.5-inch SATA hard drive (500GB to 2TB) is installed and properly formatted within the DVR settings.
    • Check recording schedules and motion detection settings to ensure they are configured correctly.
    • If the hard drive is full, ensure the overwrite function is enabled if you wish for older footage to be replaced by new recordings.
  • Remote Access Not Working:
    • Ensure the DVR is connected to your router via an Ethernet cable and has internet access.
    • Verify your smartphone or tablet has a stable internet connection.
    • Check that the ZOSI Smart app is updated to the latest version.
    • Confirm the DVR is correctly added to your app account.
  • False Motion Alerts:
    • Adjust the motion detection sensitivity settings in the DVR or app.
    • Configure custom detection zones to exclude areas prone to false triggers (e.g., moving trees, busy roads).
    • Utilize the AI Human/Vehicle Detection feature to filter out non-relevant movements.
