2. Safety Information

Please read and understand all safety warnings and instructions before installing or using this product. Failure to do so may result in electric shock, fire, or damage to the PSU and other components.

  • Do not open the PSU casing. High voltages are present inside, even when the unit is unplugged. There are no user-serviceable parts inside. Opening the casing will void the warranty.
  • Do not insert any objects into the ventilation openings of the PSU.
  • Do not expose the PSU to water, moisture, or high humidity.
  • Ensure the PSU is installed in a well-ventilated area and that the fan is not obstructed.
  • Connect the PSU only to a grounded power outlet.
  • Before installation or maintenance, always disconnect the PSU from the AC power outlet and allow sufficient time for internal capacitors to discharge.
  • Use only the cables provided with the PSU.

3. Package Contents

Verify that all items are present in the package:

  • Cooler Master B600 ver.2 Power Supply Unit
  • AC Power Cord
  • Mounting Screws
  • User Manual (this document)

4. Installation Guide

Follow these steps to properly install the Cooler Master B600 ver.2 PSU into your computer system.

4.1. Preparation

  1. Turn off your computer and disconnect the power cord from the wall outlet.
  2. Open your computer case. Refer to your computer case manual for specific instructions.
  3. If replacing an existing PSU, disconnect all cables from the old PSU to your components (motherboard, graphics card, drives, etc.) and remove the old PSU from the case.

4.2. Mounting the PSU

  1. Carefully slide the Cooler Master B600 ver.2 PSU into the designated PSU bay in your computer case. Ensure the fan is oriented correctly (typically facing downwards if there's a bottom vent, or upwards if there's no bottom vent and the case has top exhaust).
  2. Cooler Master B600 ver.2 Power Supply Unit angled view

  3. Align the screw holes on the PSU with those on the case.
  4. Secure the PSU to the case using the provided mounting screws.

4.3. Connecting Cables

Connect the necessary cables from the PSU to your computer components. The B600 ver.2 is a non-modular PSU, meaning all cables are permanently attached.

  • 24-pin ATX Motherboard Connector: Connect this large connector to the corresponding port on your motherboard. Ensure it clicks into place.
  • 4+4-pin EPS/ATX 12V Connector: Connect this to the CPU power connector on your motherboard. This may be an 8-pin or 4-pin connector depending on your motherboard.
  • 6+2-pin PCIe Connectors: Connect these to your graphics card(s) if they require external power. The B600 ver.2 provides two such connectors.
  • SATA Power Connectors: Connect these to your SATA hard drives, SSDs, and optical drives. The B600 ver.2 provides six SATA connectors.
  • Peripheral (Molex) Connectors: Connect these to older drives or case fans that use Molex connectors.
  • Floppy Power Connector: If applicable, connect to a floppy drive or other legacy peripheral.

Ensure all connections are secure and properly seated. Route cables neatly to improve airflow within the case.

5. Operating Instructions

Once the PSU is installed and all components are connected:

  1. Close your computer case.
  2. Connect the AC power cord to the PSU's power inlet.
  3. Cooler Master B600 ver.2 Power Supply Unit rear view

  4. Plug the other end of the AC power cord into a grounded wall outlet or surge protector.
  5. Flip the power switch on the back of the PSU to the 'ON' (I) position.
  6. You can now power on your computer using the case's power button.

6. Maintenance

Proper maintenance can extend the lifespan of your PSU and ensure optimal performance.

  • Dust Removal: Periodically (every 3-6 months, depending on environment) clean dust from the PSU's fan and ventilation grilles using compressed air. Always disconnect the PSU from power before cleaning.
  • Airflow: Ensure that the computer case has adequate airflow and that no cables or other components are obstructing the PSU's fan or vents.
  • Environment: Operate the PSU in a cool, dry, and well-ventilated environment. Avoid extreme temperatures or high humidity.

7. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your Cooler Master B600 ver.2 PSU, try the following troubleshooting steps:

  • No Power:
    • Ensure the AC power cord is securely connected to both the PSU and the wall outlet.
    • Check that the power switch on the back of the PSU is in the 'ON' (I) position.
    • Verify that the wall outlet is functioning by plugging in another device.
    • Check all internal cable connections (24-pin, CPU, PCIe, SATA) to ensure they are firmly seated.
  • System Instability/Crashes:
    • Ensure your system's power requirements do not exceed the PSU's 600W capacity.
    • Check for proper ventilation and ensure the PSU fan is spinning. Overheating can cause instability.
    • If possible, test the PSU with a different set of components or test your components with a known-good PSU to isolate the issue.
  • Loud Fan Noise:
    • Clean any dust accumulation from the fan and vents using compressed air.
    • Ensure the PSU is not overloaded, causing the fan to spin at maximum RPM.

If the problem persists after trying these steps, please contact Cooler Master customer support.
