1. Introduction

The Smart Weigh Digital Pro Pocket Scale TOP500 is a high-precision weighing instrument designed for accuracy and versatility. It is suitable for measuring various items such as food, jewelry, medications, and small packages. This manual provides essential information for the proper setup, operation, and maintenance of your scale.

2. Setup

2.1 Battery Installation

  1. Open the battery compartment cover located on the underside of the scale.
  2. Insert two AAA batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+/-).
  3. Close the battery compartment cover securely.

2.2 Initial Placement

Place the scale on a flat, stable surface to ensure accurate readings. Avoid placing it on soft or uneven surfaces, or near sources of vibration or extreme temperature changes.

2.3 Calibration

For optimal accuracy, periodic calibration is recommended. A 500g calibration weight (not included) is required.

  1. While the scale is on, press and hold the MODE key until "CAL" is displayed.
  2. Press the MODE key again. The display will flash "500" (or the calibration weight value).
  3. Place the specified calibration weight (e.g., 500g) onto the center of the weighing platform.
  4. The scale will display "PASS" and then return to normal weighing mode, indicating successful calibration.

3. Operating Instructions

3.1 Power On/Off

  • To turn on the scale, press the ON/OFF button.
  • To turn off the scale, press and hold the ON/OFF button for a few seconds. The scale also features an auto shut-off function after 2 minutes of inactivity to conserve battery life.

3.2 Unit Conversion

The scale supports multiple measurement modes: grams (g), ounces (oz), grains (gn), troy ounces (ozt), pennyweights (dwt), and carats (ct).

  • Press the MODE button to cycle through the available units. The selected unit will be displayed on the LCD screen.

3.3 Tare Function

The Tare function allows you to subtract the weight of a container, ensuring you measure only the contents.

  1. Place an empty container (e.g., one of the included trays) on the weighing platform.
  2. Press the T/TARE button. The display will reset to zero.
  3. Add the items you wish to weigh into the container. The display will show the net weight of the items.

3.4 Counting Function (PCS)

The unique PCS function allows you to count a large number of identical items quickly.

  1. Place a sample quantity of items (e.g., 25, 50, 75, or 100 pieces) on the platform.
  2. Press and hold the PCS button until the display shows "PCS" and the sample quantity.
  3. Press the MODE button to select the sample quantity that matches the number of items on the platform.
  4. Press the PCS button again to confirm. The scale is now calibrated for counting.
  5. Add more items to the platform, and the scale will display the total count.

3.5 Hold Function

The Hold function locks the weight reading on the display, which is useful for weighing large or unstable items that might obscure the display.

  • Place the item on the weighing platform.
  • Once the weight stabilizes, press the HOLD button. The displayed weight will be locked.
  • You can now remove the item, and the weight will remain on the screen. Press HOLD again to release the reading.

4. Maintenance

4.1 Cleaning

  • Wipe the scale with a slightly damp cloth. Do not immerse the scale in water or use abrasive cleaners.
  • Keep the weighing platform clean and free of debris to ensure accurate readings.

4.2 Storage

The scale comes with two protective trays. Use these trays to protect the weighing platform and display when not in use or during transport.

5. Troubleshooting

Problem Possible Cause Solution
Inaccurate readings Unstable surface, low battery, need for calibration. Place on a flat, stable surface. Replace batteries. Perform calibration (see Section 2.3).
Display shows "Lo" Low battery power. Replace the AAA batteries.
Display shows "O-Ld" Overload. Remove the item from the platform immediately. The maximum capacity is 500g.
Scale does not turn on Dead batteries, incorrect battery installation. Check battery polarity. Replace batteries with new ones.
