  3. Carefully pour gasoline into the fuel tank, filling it to approximately 1 inch (25 mm) below the top of the tank to allow for expansion.
  4. Securely replace the fuel tank cap.

4. Operation

4.1. Starting the Engine

Follow these steps to start your Briggs & Stratton engine:

  1. Turn the engine switch to the ON position.
  2. Move the fuel valve lever to the ON position.
  3. For a cold engine, move the choke lever to the CHOKE position. For a warm engine, leave it in the RUN position.
  4. Adjust the throttle lever to a position about 1/3 of the way from "MIN." to "MAX."
  5. Pull the starter grip lightly until you feel resistance, then pull briskly and return it gently. Repeat until the engine starts.
