1. Introduction
This manual provides essential instructions for the safe assembly, operation, and maintenance of your HECHT 9275 Gasoline Hedge Trimmer. Please read all instructions thoroughly before using the equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation. Keep this manual for future reference.
2. Safety Instructions
WARNING: Failure to follow these safety instructions can result in serious injury or death.
- Read the Manual: Always read and understand the entire instruction manual before operating the hedge trimmer.
- Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Wear appropriate PPE including safety glasses or a face shield, hearing protection, heavy-duty gloves, long pants, and sturdy, non-slip footwear.
- Fuel Handling: Gasoline is highly flammable. Handle fuel outdoors in a well-ventilated area, away from sparks, open flames, or other ignition sources. Do not smoke while fueling.
- Ventilation: Operate the hedge trimmer in a well-ventilated outdoor area. Exhaust fumes contain carbon monoxide, which is a colorless, odorless, and deadly gas.
- Bystanders: Keep children, pets, and bystanders at a safe distance (at least 15 meters / 50 feet) from the operating area.
- Inspect Work Area: Before starting, clear the work area of debris, wires, or other objects that could be thrown or entangled in the blades.
- Sharp Blades: The blades are extremely sharp. Always handle them with care and ensure the engine is off and the blade cover is in place when not in use or during maintenance.
- Stable Footing: Maintain firm footing and balance at all times. Do not overreach.
- Engine Off: Always turn off the engine before making adjustments, cleaning, or performing maintenance.
- Anti-Vibration System: This tool is equipped with an anti-vibration system to reduce user fatigue. However, prolonged use can still cause vibration-related injuries. Take regular breaks.

4. Setup
4.1 Unpacking and Inspection
- Carefully remove the hedge trimmer and all accessories from the packaging.
- Inspect the unit for any signs of damage during shipping. Do not operate if damaged.
- Ensure all components listed in the packing list are present.
4.2 Fueling the Hedge Trimmer
WARNING: Always handle gasoline with extreme care. Ensure the engine is off and cool before fueling.
The HECHT 9275 uses a 2-stroke engine, requiring a mixture of gasoline and 2-stroke engine oil. Refer to the engine specifications for the correct mixing ratio (typically 1:40 or 1:50). Use fresh, unleaded gasoline with an octane rating of 90 RON or higher.
- Mix the gasoline and 2-stroke oil in a separate, approved fuel container. Shake well before pouring.
- Place the hedge trimmer on a flat, stable surface.
- Unscrew the fuel tank cap slowly to release any pressure.
- Carefully pour the fuel mixture into the fuel tank, avoiding overfilling.
- Securely replace the fuel tank cap. Wipe up any spilled fuel immediately.

5. Operating Instructions
5.1 Starting the Engine
- Place the hedge trimmer on a flat, clear surface. Ensure the blade is not touching anything.
- Press the primer bulb several times (usually 5-7 times) until fuel is visible in the return line.
- Set the choke lever to the 'CLOSED' (cold start) position.
- Pull the starter cord firmly and smoothly until the engine fires (usually 1-3 pulls). Do not pull the cord to its full extension or let it snap back.
- Once the engine fires, move the choke lever to the 'OPEN' (run) position.
- If the engine does not start after a few pulls, repeat the process. If it still doesn't start, refer to the troubleshooting section.

5.2 Stopping the Engine
To stop the engine, simply move the engine switch to the 'OFF' position.
5.3 Using the Rotating Handle
The HECHT 9275 features a rotating rear handle for improved ergonomics and control when cutting at different angles (e.g., vertical or horizontal). To adjust the handle:
- Ensure the engine is off and the blade is stationary.
- Locate the handle rotation lock/button (refer to product diagrams).
- Press or release the lock and rotate the handle to the desired position.
- Ensure the handle locks securely into place before restarting the engine.

5.4 Cutting Techniques
- General Cutting: Hold the hedge trimmer firmly with both hands. Start cutting from the bottom of the hedge and work your way up. Use a sweeping motion.
- Horizontal Cutting: For the top of hedges, hold the trimmer with the blade parallel to the ground.
- Vertical Cutting: For the sides of hedges, hold the trimmer with the blade perpendicular to the ground. The rotating handle is particularly useful here.
- Avoid Overloading: Do not force the blades through thick branches. If the trimmer struggles, the branch may be too thick for the tool's capacity (max 28 mm).

6. Maintenance
WARNING: Always ensure the engine is off, cool, and the spark plug cap is disconnected before performing any maintenance.
6.1 After Each Use
- Clean Blades: Remove sap and debris from the blades using a stiff brush and a suitable cleaning agent. Lubricate the blades with a light machine oil or blade lubricant to prevent rust.
- Inspect Blades: Check for any damage, dullness, or loose bolts.
- Clean Air Filter: If operating in dusty conditions, clean the air filter. Refer to the engine manual for specific instructions.
6.2 Regular Maintenance (Periodically or Seasonally)
- Blade Sharpening: Dull blades reduce cutting efficiency and can damage the hedge. Sharpen blades as needed using a fine-toothed file or have them professionally sharpened.
- Spark Plug: Inspect the spark plug for wear and carbon buildup. Clean or replace if necessary. Ensure the correct gap.
- Fuel Filter: Inspect and replace the fuel filter if it appears clogged or dirty.
- General Inspection: Check all nuts, bolts, and screws for tightness. Inspect fuel lines for cracks or leaks.
6.3 Storage
For long-term storage (over 30 days):
- Drain all fuel from the tank and carburetor, or use a fuel stabilizer. Run the engine until it stops from lack of fuel.
- Clean the hedge trimmer thoroughly.
- Lubricate the blades and other moving parts.
- Store in a dry, well-ventilated area, away from children and ignition sources.
7. Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Engine won't start | No fuel, incorrect choke setting, fouled spark plug, clogged fuel filter. | Check fuel level and mixture. Adjust choke. Clean/replace spark plug. Clean/replace fuel filter. |
| Engine starts then stalls | Incorrect choke setting, stale fuel, clogged fuel filter, dirty air filter. | Adjust choke to 'OPEN'. Use fresh fuel. Clean/replace fuel filter. Clean air filter. |
| Poor cutting performance | Dull blades, damaged blades, cutting too thick material. | Sharpen or replace blades. Do not force the tool through branches exceeding 28 mm. |
| Excessive vibration | Loose components, damaged blade, engine imbalance. | Check all fasteners. Inspect blade for damage. If problem persists, seek professional service. |
