Important Safety Information
- Power Source: Connect the unit only to an AC power source as indicated on the unit.

Setup
Unpacking
Carefully remove the Technics SL-PD5 CD Player from its packaging. Ensure all included components are present:

Placement
Place the unit on a stable, level surface away from direct sunlight, heat sources, and excessive dust or vibration. Allow sufficient space around the unit for proper ventilation.
Connections
- Audio Output: Connect the analog audio output jacks (L/R) on the rear of the SL-PD5 to the corresponding audio input jacks on your amplifier or receiver using RCA cables.
- Digital Output: For higher fidelity, connect the digital optical output on the rear of the SL-PD5 to a digital optical input on your amplifier or digital-to-analog converter (DAC) using an optical cable.
- Power Connection: After all audio connections are made, connect the supplied power cord to the AC inlet on the rear of the unit and then to a suitable wall outlet.

Operating Instructions
Power On/Off
Press the POWER button located on the front panel to turn the unit on or off.
Loading Discs
- Press the OPEN/CLOSE button to open the disc tray.
- Place up to five compact discs into the numbered slots on the rotary tray, with the label side facing up.
- Press the OPEN/CLOSE button again to close the disc tray. The unit will read the discs.

Basic Playback
- Play: Press the PLAY (►) button to start playback. The unit will begin playing the first disc in the tray.
- Pause: Press the PAUSE (∥∥) button to temporarily stop playback. Press again to resume.
- Stop: Press the STOP (■) button to stop playback.
- Skip Track: Use the SKIP (►►| / |◄◄) buttons to skip to the next or previous track.
- Fast Forward/Rewind: Hold down the SEARCH (►► / ◄◄) buttons to fast forward or rewind within a track.

Disc Selection
To select a specific disc for playback, press the corresponding DISC 1-5 button on the front panel. You can also use the numeric keypad (0-10) to select tracks directly.
Special Features
- Random Play: Press the RANDOM button to play tracks in a random order.
- Repeat Play: Press the REPEAT button to repeat the current track, current disc, or all discs.
- Program Play: Use the PROGRAM MODE button and numeric keypad to create a custom playback sequence of tracks. Refer to the display for programming steps.
Maintenance
Cleaning the Unit
- Wipe the exterior of the unit with a soft, dry cloth.
- For stubborn stains, dampen the cloth lightly with water or a mild, non-abrasive cleaner. Do not use strong solvents or abrasive pads.
- Do not spray cleaning solutions directly onto the unit.
Disc Care
- Handle discs by their edges to avoid fingerprints on the playing surface.
- Keep discs clean. Wipe them gently from the center outwards with a soft, lint-free cloth if necessary.
- Store discs in their cases when not in use to prevent scratches and dust accumulation.
