3. Setup
3.1. Battery Installation
Batteries are not included and must be purchased separately.
- Main Unit: Open the battery compartment on the back of the WS9135 weather station. Insert 3 x AA, IEC LR6 1.5V batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+/-). Close the compartment.
- Outdoor Transmitter (TX 37 IT+): Open the battery compartment on the back of the transmitter. Insert 2 x AA, IEC LR6 1.5V batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+/-). Close the compartment.
3.2. Transmitter Placement
Place the outdoor transmitter in a shaded, dry location away from direct sunlight and precipitation. Ensure it is within 100 meters (328 feet) of the main unit in an open field for optimal signal transmission. Avoid placing it near large metal objects or electrical appliances that may interfere with the signal.
3.3. Initial Synchronization and Time Setting
After inserting batteries, the main unit will automatically attempt to synchronize with the outdoor transmitter and receive the DCF-77 radio-controlled time signal.
- The outdoor temperature should appear on the main unit's display within a few minutes. If not, press the 'TX' button on the outdoor transmitter to manually send a signal.
- The DCF-77 time signal reception may take several hours, especially during initial setup. Place the main unit near a window for better reception. The DCF icon on the display will indicate signal strength.
- You can manually set the time and date if the DCF signal is not available or desired. Refer to section 4.2 for manual time setting.
- Adjust the time zone if necessary (refer to section 4.2).
4. Operating Instructions
4.1. Display Overview
The main unit's display is divided into several sections:
- Top Section: Time, DCF signal indicator.
- Middle Section: Weather forecast icons (sunny, cloudy, rainy) and trend arrow.
- Bottom Section: Indoor temperature (left) and Outdoor temperature (right), with permanent display of recorded minimum and maximum values.
4.2. Time and Date Settings
- DCF On/Off: The unit is set to receive the DCF-77 signal by default. To disable or enable DCF, refer to the specific button sequence in your quick start guide or product packaging.
- Manual Time Setting: If DCF is off, use the 'MODE' or 'SET' button (location varies by model, check unit) to enter time setting mode. Use '+' or '-' buttons to adjust hours, minutes, and date. Press 'MODE'/'SET' again to confirm each setting.
- Time Zone: Adjust the time zone by +/- 12 hours if your location is not within the standard DCF-77 reception area.
- 24-Hour Format: The time is displayed in 24-hour format.
4.3. Alarm Function
The weather station includes an alarm with a Snooze function.
- To set the alarm, press the 'ALARM' button (or similar, check unit) to enter alarm setting mode. Use '+' or '-' to adjust the alarm time.
- To activate/deactivate the alarm, press the 'ALARM' button repeatedly until the alarm icon appears/disappears.
- When the alarm sounds, press the 'SNOOZE' button to temporarily silence it. The alarm will sound again after a few minutes.
4.4. Weather Forecast
The weather station provides a forecast based on atmospheric pressure changes, indicated by 3 icons (e.g., sunny, cloudy, rainy) and a trend arrow.
- The icons represent a forecast for the next 12-24 hours within a 30-50 km radius.
- The trend arrow indicates whether the pressure is rising, falling, or stable, suggesting improving, worsening, or stable weather conditions.
4.5. Temperature Display
The display shows current indoor and outdoor temperatures. It also permanently displays the recorded minimum and maximum temperatures for both indoor and outdoor environments since the last reset.
- To reset the Min/Max temperature records, press and hold the 'MIN/MAX' button (or similar) for a few seconds.
5. Maintenance
5.1. Battery Replacement
A low battery indicator will appear on the display when batteries need to be replaced. Replace all batteries in both the main unit and the outdoor transmitter simultaneously to ensure proper operation and synchronization.
5.2. Cleaning
Clean the weather station and transmitter with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents, as these may damage the plastic components or display.
6. Troubleshooting
If you experience issues with your weather station, please refer to the following common problems and solutions:
- No Outdoor Temperature Reading:
- Ensure batteries are correctly installed and not depleted in both units.
- Move the outdoor transmitter closer to the main unit.
- Press the 'TX' button on the outdoor transmitter to force a signal transmission.
- Remove batteries from both units, wait 1 minute, then reinsert them (main unit first, then transmitter) to re-establish connection.
- Incorrect Time / No DCF Signal:
- Ensure the main unit is placed near a window and away from electronic interference.
- Allow up to 24 hours for the initial DCF signal reception.
- Manually set the time if the DCF signal is consistently weak or unavailable in your area.
- Display is Blank or Faint:
- Replace batteries in the main unit.
- Check battery polarity.
- Inaccurate Temperature Readings:
- Ensure the outdoor transmitter is not in direct sunlight or near heat sources.
- Verify that the main unit is not placed near heat-emitting appliances indoors.
