3. Setup

3.1 Package Contents

Before proceeding, ensure all items are present:

  • Uniden AS7103 Telephone Base Unit
  • Handset
  • Coiled Handset Cord
  • Line Cord
  • User Manual (this document)

3.2 Connecting the Phone

  1. Connect the Handset: Plug one end of the coiled handset cord into the jack on the side of the telephone base unit and the other end into the jack on the bottom of the handset.
  2. Connect the Line Cord: Plug one end of the line cord into the LINE jack on the back of the telephone base unit. Plug the other end of the line cord into a standard telephone wall jack.
  3. Power Source: The phone is powered by the telephone line (corded electric). No external power adapter or batteries are typically required for basic operation, though some Caller ID features might require AA batteries for the display (check specific model variations if display is not active).
  4. Wall Mounting (Optional): If you wish to wall mount the phone, refer to the wall mounting instructions provided with your telephone wall plate. The AS7103 is designed to be wall mountable.

4. Operation

4.1 Making a Call

  1. Pick up the handset.
  2. Listen for a dial tone.
  3. Dial the desired telephone number using the keypad.
  4. Once the call is complete, place the handset back on the base unit.

4.2 Receiving a Call

  1. When the phone rings, pick up the handset.
  2. Speak into the handset.
  3. Once the call is complete, place the handset back on the base unit.

4.3 Caller ID Function

When a call comes in, the caller's number (and name, if available and subscribed to the service) will be displayed on the LCD screen before you answer. The phone stores up to 59 incoming call records.

  • Use the UP/DOWN arrow buttons (if present on your model) to scroll through the Caller ID history.
  • To dial back a number from the Caller ID list, select the entry and press the REDIAL/DIAL BACK button.

4.4 Redial and Flash Function

  • Redial: To redial the last number called, pick up the handset and press the REDIAL button.
  • Flash: The Flash function is used for network services such as call waiting or transferring calls. Press the FLASH button during a call to activate this feature. The flash time can be adjusted (100/300/600/1000ms) via settings, if available on your model.

4.5 Speed Dial Memory

The phone supports 10 speed dial memory locations. Refer to your specific model's instructions for programming and using speed dial numbers, typically involving a "STORE" or "MEM" button followed by a digit and the number.

4.6 Ringer On/Off

A switch on the side or back of the phone allows you to turn the ringer ON or OFF. Adjust this according to your preference.

5. Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Wipe the phone with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.
  • Avoid Liquids: Keep the phone away from water and other liquids.
  • Temperature: Do not expose the phone to extreme temperatures or direct sunlight.
  • Cords: Periodically check the handset and line cords for any damage. Replace if necessary.
