- Wear Protective Gear: Always wear a helmet, knee pads, elbow pads, and wrist guards.
- Check Equipment: Before each use, inspect your skateboard for any loose parts, cracks, or damage. Ensure all nuts and bolts are securely tightened.
- Choose Safe Locations: Ride in designated skateboarding areas or smooth, dry, and clear surfaces away from traffic, pedestrians, and obstacles. Avoid wet, uneven, or slippery surfaces.
- Understand Your Limits: Start with basic maneuvers and gradually progress to more advanced techniques. Do not attempt tricks beyond your skill level.
- Supervision: Children should always be supervised by an adult while skateboarding.

4. Setup and Pre-Ride Check
Your Hudora Instinct Skateboard comes pre-assembled. Before your first ride and periodically thereafter, perform the following checks:
- Truck Tightness: Check that the kingpin nut (large nut in the center of the truck) and the axle nuts (on the ends of the axles holding the wheels) are securely tightened. Adjust the kingpin nut to control turning responsiveness – tighter for more stability, looser for sharper turns.
- Wheel Spin: Ensure all four wheels spin freely without excessive wobble. If a wheel does not spin freely, check the axle nut for overtightening or inspect the bearings for damage.
- Deck Integrity: Inspect the maple wood deck for any cracks, splinters, or delamination. Do not ride a damaged deck.
- Grip Tape: Ensure the grip tape is firmly adhered to the deck and provides sufficient traction.
5. Operating Instructions
Learning to skateboard requires practice and patience. Always start in a safe, open area.
- Stance: Place your front foot over the front truck bolts, pointing slightly forward. Push off with your back foot. Once moving, place your back foot on the tail of the board.
- Balance: Keep your knees bent and your weight centered over the board. Use your arms for balance.
- Turning: Lean in the direction you want to turn. You can also use your heels or toes to apply pressure to the edges of the board for sharper turns.
- Stopping:
- Foot Brake: Gently drag your back foot on the ground.
- Tail Drag: Press down on the tail of the board to lift the front wheels and drag the tail on the ground.
- Bailing: If you lose control, step off the board safely.
6. Maintenance
Regular maintenance will extend the life of your skateboard and ensure safe operation.
- Cleaning: Wipe down the deck and trucks with a damp cloth after use. Avoid getting the bearings wet.
- Bearing Care: If wheels become noisy or slow, bearings may need cleaning or replacement. Consult a local skate shop for professional bearing maintenance.
- Hardware Check: Periodically check and tighten all nuts and bolts, especially those on the trucks and wheels. Do not overtighten axle nuts as this can damage bearings.
- Wheel Wear: Rotate wheels periodically to ensure even wear. Replace wheels when they become significantly worn or chipped.
- Storage: Store your skateboard in a dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures, to prevent deck warping or material degradation.
7. Troubleshooting
- Squeaky Trucks: This is common and usually harmless. It can often be resolved by applying a small amount of wax or specialized skateboard lubricant to the pivot cup and bushings.
- Wheels Not Spinning Freely: Check if axle nuts are too tight. Loosen them slightly until the wheel spins freely but has minimal side-to-side play. If the issue persists, bearings may be dirty or damaged and require cleaning or replacement.
- Board Pulls to One Side: This often indicates uneven truck tightness. Adjust the kingpin nuts on both trucks to ensure they are equally tightened, or replace worn bushings.
