3. Operating Instructions

For accurate results, it is crucial to wait at least 15 minutes after your last drink before performing a test. This allows alcohol to be absorbed from your mouth into your bloodstream, preventing false high readings from residual mouth alcohol.

  1. Power On: Press and hold the power button located on the side of the device until the display illuminates.
  2. Prepare for Test: The device will display "WAIT" and count down as it warms up. Once ready, it will display "BLOW".
  3. Perform Test: Extend the folding mouthpiece. Take a deep breath and blow steadily and continuously into the mouthpiece for approximately 5 seconds until you hear a beep or the device indicates completion.
  4. View Results: Your estimated Blood Alcohol Content (BAC) will be displayed on the screen within seconds.

4. Maintenance

Recalibration:

All breathalyzers, including BACtrack devices, require periodic recalibration to maintain accuracy. The frequency of recalibration depends on usage. Refer to the official BACtrack website or the full user manual (PDF link provided below) for detailed recalibration instructions and service options.

Cleaning:

To clean the exterior of the device, use a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or immerse the device in water. The mouthpieces can be cleaned with mild soap and water, then air-dried completely before re-use.

5. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your BACtrack Go Breathalyzer, please refer to the following common troubleshooting steps:

  • Device Not Powering On: Ensure the AAA battery is correctly installed and has sufficient charge. Replace the battery if necessary.
  • Inaccurate Readings: Ensure you have waited at least 15 minutes after your last drink before testing. Residual mouth alcohol can lead to inflated readings. Also, ensure you are blowing steadily and continuously as instructed.
  • "FLOW" or "ERR" Message: This may indicate an insufficient breath sample. Try blowing longer and more consistently.
  • Device Requires Recalibration: If readings seem consistently off or the device indicates a need for service, it may require recalibration.

For more detailed troubleshooting or persistent issues, please consult the full user manual available as a PDF or contact BACtrack customer support.
