6. Maintenance

6.1. Cleaning the Mouse

To maintain optimal performance, periodically clean your mouse:

  • Disconnect the mouse from your computer by removing the Nano receiver.
  • Use a soft, lint-free cloth lightly dampened with water or a mild cleaning solution to wipe the exterior of the mouse.
  • Avoid getting moisture into any openings.
  • For the optical sensor on the underside, use a dry cotton swab to gently remove any dust or debris.

6.2. Battery Replacement

When the mouse's performance degrades or it stops responding, it is likely time to replace the batteries. Follow the steps in Section 4.1 to replace the two AAA batteries. Dispose of old batteries according to local regulations.

7. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your Gear Head wireless mouse, refer to the following common solutions:

  • Mouse not responding:
    • Ensure the mouse is powered ON using the switch on the underside.
    • Check if the batteries are correctly installed and have sufficient charge. Replace if necessary.
    • Verify that the Nano USB receiver is securely plugged into a working USB port on your computer. Try a different USB port.
    • Restart your computer.
  • Erratic cursor movement:
    • Clean the optical sensor on the underside of the mouse (refer to Section 6.1).
    • Ensure you are using the mouse on a suitable surface. Highly reflective or transparent surfaces may affect tracking.
    • Move the mouse closer to the Nano receiver to rule out range issues or interference.
  • Wireless connection issues:
    • Avoid placing the receiver near other wireless devices (e.g., Wi-Fi routers, cordless phones) that might cause interference.
    • If the mouse and receiver lose connection, try unplugging and re-plugging the receiver. The automatic synchronization should re-establish the connection.
