Maintenance
1. Battery Replacement
The keypad is powered by one AAA Alkaline battery. When the battery is low, the keypad's performance may degrade. Replace the battery by following the steps in the "Battery Installation" section. Ensure to use a fresh AAA Alkaline battery for optimal performance and battery life (approximately 4350 hours).
2. Cleaning
Clean the keypad and its cover with a soft, damp cloth. Avoid using abrasive cleaners or solvents, as these can damage the finish or electronic components.
3. Weather Protection
Always ensure the weather-proof cover is closed when the keypad is not in use. This protects the internal components from rain, snow, dust, and direct sunlight, extending the lifespan of the device.
Troubleshooting
1. Keypad Not Responding
- Check the battery: Ensure the AAA battery is correctly installed and not depleted. Replace if necessary.
- Verify programming: Confirm the keypad is correctly programmed to your garage door opener or the GB-318 receiver. Refer to the "Programming with your Garage Door Opener" section.
- Range: Ensure you are within the operating range of the garage door opener (up to 100 feet).
2. Incorrect Passcode Attempts
The keypad features a Passcode Lock Timeout. If ten incorrect passcode attempts are made, the keypad will automatically lock for 10 minutes to prevent unauthorized access. Wait for the lockout period to expire before attempting to enter the passcode again.
3. Resetting the Passcode to Factory Default (0000)
If you forget your passcode or wish to reset it to the factory default (0000), follow these steps:
- Remove the back cover and take out the AAA battery.
- Press and hold both the hash (#) and asterisk (*) buttons simultaneously.
- While holding these buttons, reinsert the AAA battery.
- Continue holding both buttons until you hear three beeps. This indicates the passcode has been reset to 0000.
- Replace the back cover and tighten the screw.
After resetting, you will need to reprogram the keypad with your garage door opener using the default passcode 0000, and then change the passcode to a new personal code.
