Key Features

  • Authentic iRobot Roomba Docking/Charging Base.
  • Compatible with iRobot Roomba model series 500, 600, 700, 800, and 900.
  • Integrated design with North American Line Cord.
  • Compact dimensions: 6.26 inches (L) x 5.87 inches (W) x 4.49 inches (H).
  • Manufactured by iRobot.

Setup Instructions

  1. Choose a Location: Place the dock charger on a hard, level surface against a wall. Ensure there is clear space around the dock (at least 1.5 feet on each side and 4 feet in front) for the Roomba to easily navigate to and from the base.
  2. Connect Power: Plug the integrated North American line cord into a standard wall outlet.
  3. Secure the Base (Recommended): To prevent the Roomba from dislodging the dock during docking attempts, it is highly recommended to secure the base to the floor. Adhesive strips (such as Command strips) can be applied to the bottom of the base to keep it stationary. This prevents the base from being moved to an awkward angle, which could hinder successful docking and charging.
  4. Initial Placement: Manually place your Roomba onto the charging contacts of the dock. Ensure the contacts on the Roomba align with those on the dock.

Operating the Dock Charger

Once the dock charger is set up and powered, your Roomba will automatically return to it to recharge its battery when its power level is low or when a cleaning cycle is complete. The Roomba uses infrared signals to locate the dock.

  • Automatic Docking: When the Roomba's battery is low, it will automatically seek out the dock charger to recharge.
  • Manual Docking: You can also manually place the Roomba onto the charging contacts.
  • Charging Indicator: A green light on the dock charger indicates that the Roomba is properly connected and charging. If the light is not green, ensure the Roomba is correctly seated on the contacts and the power cord is securely plugged in.

Maintenance

Regular maintenance of your dock charger is crucial for optimal performance and to ensure consistent charging of your Roomba. The most important aspect of maintenance is cleaning the charging contacts.

Cleaning Charging Contacts

Over time, the metallic charging contacts on both the dock and the Roomba can accumulate dirt, dust, or debris, often appearing as black residue. This can interfere with the electrical connection and prevent proper charging.

  1. Unplug the Dock: Always unplug the dock charger from the wall outlet before cleaning.
  2. Clean Contacts: Use a clean, dry cloth or a melamine foam sponge (like a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser) to gently wipe the metallic charging contacts on the dock. You may also use your fingers to rub off any accumulated residue.
  3. Clean Roomba Contacts: Similarly, clean the charging contacts on the underside of your Roomba.
  4. Frequency: It is recommended to clean these contacts regularly, ideally every few weeks, depending on your Roomba's usage and environment.
