4. Setup

4.1 Connecting to a Computer

  1. Connect the FiiO E10K-TC to your computer using the provided Micro USB cable. The device will draw power directly from the USB port.
  2. Your computer should automatically detect the device and install the necessary drivers. For Windows 10, it is recommended to use the default drivers installed by the operating system rather than FiiO's ASIO drivers to avoid potential system instability.
  3. Once recognized, select the FiiO E10K-TC as your audio output device in your computer's sound settings.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Power On/Off

The FiiO E10K-TC powers on automatically when connected to a powered USB port. To turn it off, disconnect the USB cable. The volume knob also functions as an on/off switch by rotating it fully counter-clockwise until it clicks.

5.2 Adjusting Volume

Rotate the large knob on the front panel clockwise to increase volume and counter-clockwise to decrease it. Adjust to a comfortable listening level.

5.3 Using Bass Boost

The 'BASS' switch on the front panel allows you to enable or disable bass enhancement. Toggle the switch to 'ON' for increased bass response or 'OFF' for a flatter, more neutral sound profile.

5.4 Selecting Gain

The 'GAIN' switch on the rear panel allows you to select between high (H) and low (L) gain settings. Use the 'L' (low) setting for sensitive headphones or when high volume is not required. Switch to 'H' (high) gain for less sensitive headphones or when more power is needed to drive them effectively.

6. Maintenance

  • Keep the device clean by wiping it with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive materials.
  • Protect the device from extreme temperatures, direct sunlight, and moisture.
  • Avoid dropping or subjecting the device to strong impacts.
  • Ensure all cables are connected securely but do not force them.

7. Troubleshooting

7.1 No Sound Output

  • Check if the FiiO E10K-TC is properly connected to your computer via USB and receiving power.
  • Ensure the E10K-TC is selected as the default audio output device in your computer's sound settings.
  • Verify that the volume knob on the E10K-TC is turned up and not at its minimum setting.
  • Confirm that your headphones or speakers are correctly plugged into the appropriate output port and are functioning correctly.

7.2 Distorted Sound

  • Reduce the volume on both your computer and the E10K-TC. Distortion can occur if the signal is too strong.
  • Check the gain setting. If using sensitive headphones, switch to 'L' (low) gain.
  • Ensure the audio source file is not corrupted or of low quality.
  • Try using a different USB port or cable to rule out interference.

7.3 Connectivity Issues (Windows 10)

  • If experiencing Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) or other instability, especially when disconnecting the device, ensure you are using the default Windows drivers. FiiO's ASIO drivers may cause issues with Windows 10.
  • If you previously installed FiiO ASIO drivers, uninstall them and allow Windows to automatically install its native drivers.
