Setup

1. Setting the Time

  1. Pull the crown out to position 2. The watch will stop.
  2. Turn the crown to set the hour and minute hands to the correct time. Ensure the 24-hour sub-dial also aligns correctly (e.g., if it's 3 PM, the 24-hour hand should point to 15).
  3. Push the crown back to position 0 to start the watch.

2. Setting the Day and Date

  1. Pull the crown out to position 1.
  2. Turn the crown clockwise to set the date.
  3. Turn the crown counter-clockwise to set the day.
  4. Push the crown back to position 0 once the day and date are set.

Note: Avoid setting the date between 9:00 PM and 3:00 AM, as this may interfere with the automatic date change mechanism. If you need to set the date during this period, first set the time outside this window, adjust the date, then reset the time.

3. Bracelet Adjustment

The stainless steel bracelet features a double-press fold-over clasp with a safety lock. For initial fitting or resizing, it is recommended to visit a professional jeweler to add or remove links to ensure a comfortable and secure fit.

Operating Instructions

Basic Timekeeping

Your Bulova 98C120 watch is powered by a Japanese quartz movement, providing accurate timekeeping. Once the time, day, and date are set, the watch will operate continuously.

Using the Sub-Dials

  • Day Sub-Dial: Displays the current day of the week.
  • Date Sub-Dial: Displays the current day of the month.
  • 24-Hour Sub-Dial: Indicates the time in a 24-hour format, useful for distinguishing AM/PM and for tracking a second time zone if desired (though not a true GMT function).

Water Resistance

This watch is water resistant to 30 meters (99 feet). This rating means the watch is suitable for everyday use and can withstand splashes or brief immersion in water. It is not suitable for swimming, showering, or diving. Always ensure the crown is fully pushed in to position 0 to maintain water resistance. Avoid operating the crown or pushers while the watch is wet.

Maintenance

Cleaning

To maintain the appearance of your watch, wipe the case and bracelet with a soft, dry cloth regularly. For stainless steel, a slightly damp cloth can be used, followed by a dry cloth. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive materials.

Battery Replacement

Your watch is powered by a lithium metal battery. When the watch stops or begins to lose time, the battery may need replacement. It is highly recommended to have the battery replaced by an authorized Bulova service center or a qualified watchmaker to ensure proper sealing and maintain water resistance.

Storage

When not wearing your watch, store it in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, extreme temperatures, and strong magnetic fields. The original watch box is ideal for storage.

Troubleshooting

  • Watch not running: Check if the crown is fully pushed in to position 0. If it is, the battery may need replacement.
  • Incorrect time/date: Refer to the "Setting the Time" and "Setting the Day and Date" sections under Setup. Ensure you are not setting the date between 9:00 PM and 3:00 AM.
  • Condensation under crystal: This indicates a loss of water resistance. Immediately take the watch to an authorized service center to prevent further damage.
  • Bracelet discomfort: The bracelet may need adjustment. Consult a professional jeweler for resizing.
