Setup Guide

1. Hardware Connection:

Connect WAN: Connect your primary internet modem to the WAN1 port using an Ethernet cable. If you have a secondary internet connection, connect its modem to the WAN2 port.
Connect LAN: Connect your computer or a network switch to any of the LAN1-LAN5 ports using an Ethernet cable.
Power On: Connect the power adapter to the router's power input and then plug it into an electrical outlet. The router will begin its startup sequence.
USB Devices (Optional): If using a 3G/4G USB modem, USB storage, or a USB printer, connect it to one of the USB ports.

2. Initial Configuration Access:

Ensure your computer is set to obtain an IP address automatically (DHCP).
Open a web browser and enter the default IP address of the router, typically 192.168.1.1, into the address bar.
Enter the default username and password (refer to the label on the router or the quick start guide for specific credentials).
Follow the on-screen wizard for initial internet connection setup and basic network configuration.

Operating Instructions

Dual WAN Configuration:

The Vigor2925 supports dual WAN connections for enhanced reliability and bandwidth. You can configure these in the web interface under WAN > General Setup.

Load Balancing: Distributes network traffic across both WAN connections to optimize bandwidth utilization.
Failover: Automatically switches to the secondary WAN connection if the primary connection fails, ensuring continuous internet access.

VPN (Virtual Private Network):

The router supports up to 50 VPN tunnels, including SSL VPN, for secure remote access and site-to-site connectivity. Configuration options are available under VPN and Remote Access.

SSL VPN: Provides secure remote access for individual users via a web browser.
IPsec/PPTP/L2TP VPN: For site-to-site connections or traditional client-to-site VPNs.

USB Applications:

Utilize the two USB ports for various functionalities:

3G/4G LTE Mobile Broadband: Connect a compatible USB modem for mobile internet access, which can also serve as a backup WAN.
FTP Server: Attach a USB storage device to create a simple FTP server for file sharing within your network or remotely.
Network Printer: Connect a USB printer to make it accessible to all devices on your local network.

VLAN (Virtual Local Area Network):

Configure VLANs to segment your network into multiple broadcast domains, enhancing security and network performance. This is managed under LAN > VLAN.

Firewall and Security:

The Vigor2925 includes robust security features:

Stateful Packet Inspection (SPI): Monitors the state of active connections and makes decisions based on the context of the traffic.
DoS Defense: Protects against Denial of Service attacks.
Content Filtering: Supports Web Content Filtering (WCF) to manage internet access.

Maintenance

Firmware Upgrades:

DrayTek regularly releases firmware updates to improve performance, add new features, and address security vulnerabilities. It is recommended to keep your router's firmware up to date.

Cannot Access Web Interface:
- Ensure your computer is connected to a LAN port and its IP settings are set to DHCP.
- Try pinging the router's default IP address (192.168.1.1).
- Clear your browser's cache or try a different browser.
Slow Network Performance:
- Check for high CPU or memory usage in the router's system status.
- Review QoS settings to ensure critical traffic is prioritized.
- Ensure firmware is up to date.
Factory Reset: If you encounter persistent issues or forget your login credentials, press and hold the 'Factory Reset' button for approximately 5-10 seconds while the router is powered on. This will restore all settings to their default values. Warning: This will erase all your custom configurations.
