The FBT J 8A monitor features a durable black polypropylene enclosure. Its compact design allows for easy portability and flexible installation options, including wall mounting using compatible brackets (not included).

The rear panel provides all necessary connections and controls for the monitor. This includes audio inputs, a link output, level adjustments, DSP preset selection, and the main power switch.

5. Setup

5.1 Placement and Mounting

The FBT J 8A can be used as a floor monitor, mounted on a speaker stand, or permanently installed using its M6 anchoring points. Ensure the monitor is placed on a stable, level surface or securely mounted to prevent accidental falls.

5.2 Connections

Before making any connections, ensure the monitor's power switch is in the OFF position and the power cord is disconnected from the mains supply.

  1. Audio Input: Connect your audio source (mixer, instrument, microphone) to the XLR/Jack combo input on the rear panel.
  2. Link Output: If connecting multiple monitors, use the XLR link output to send the audio signal to another active speaker.
  3. Power Connection: Connect the supplied power cord to the AC inlet on the rear panel, then plug the other end into a suitable grounded AC power outlet (220-230V~ 50/60Hz).

6. Operating Instructions

6.1 Powering On/Off

  1. Ensure all audio connections are made and the Level control is set to minimum.
  2. Flip the main power switch on the rear panel to the ON position. The power indicator LED will illuminate.
  3. To power off, set the Level control to minimum, then flip the power switch to OFF.

6.2 Input Level and Mic/Line Switch

6.3 DSP Presets

The FBT J 8A features a Digital Signal Processor (DSP) with two selectable presets to optimize the sound for different applications:

6.4 Hi-Pass Filter

The Hi-Pass filter button activates a high-pass filter, which cuts low frequencies from the monitor's output. This is particularly useful when the J 8A is used in conjunction with a subwoofer, allowing the subwoofer to handle the lower frequencies and improving overall system clarity and efficiency.
