  • Handset Cord: Periodically check the handset cord for any signs of wear or damage. Replace if necessary.
  • Battery: The phone requires 1 A battery (likely for internal clock or specific accessory). If applicable, ensure proper battery installation and replacement as per specific instructions for that component.

6. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your Cisco IP Business Phone 8861, refer to the following common troubleshooting tips:

  • Phone Does Not Power On:
    • Ensure the Ethernet cable is securely connected to a PoE-enabled network port.
    • If using an AC adapter, verify it is properly connected to the phone and a working power outlet.
    • Confirm that the network switch port is active and providing PoE.
  • No Dial Tone or Cannot Make/Receive Calls:
    • Verify the phone is properly connected to your corporate network.
    • Confirm that your phone is registered with the Cisco Communications Manager system. This phone requires a Cisco Call Manager system to function.
    • Contact your IT administrator to check your line status and system configuration.
  • Poor Audio Quality:
    • Check the handset cord for damage.
    • Ensure the network connection is stable.
    • If using a headset, ensure it is properly connected and functioning.
  • Missed Call Notification Icon:

An orange icon indicating a missed call will appear on the display. This icon typically requires manual clearing after reviewing missed calls. This is a standard feature and cannot be disabled through user settings.
