4. Setup

Follow these steps to properly set up your surge protector:

  1. Unplug Appliance: Disconnect the appliance you wish to protect from its wall outlet.
  2. Plug in Surge Protector: Insert the PROTECT-AC220 into a 220V AC wall outlet. Ensure the outlet has one ground and two horizontal prongs.
  3. Observe Safety Cycle: The red 'POWER OFF' LED indicator will turn on initially. This indicates the unit is performing a 4-minute safety cycle to ensure power consistency.
  4. Connect Appliance: After the 4-minute safety cycle, the yellow 'SAFETY CYCLE' LED will turn off, and the green 'POWER ON' LED will illuminate, indicating that stable power is being supplied. You can then plug your appliance into the surge protector.

5. Operating Instructions

The PROTECT-AC220 operates automatically to protect your appliances. Understanding the LED indicators is key to monitoring its status.

LED Indicators:

  • Green (POWER ON): Illuminates when the power line voltage is within the safe operating range (AC 187-245V) and the appliance can operate safely.
  • Red (POWER OFF): Illuminates whenever there is a power surge, power loss, or the voltage is higher or lower than the safe operating range. Output to the appliance is deactivated to protect it.
  • Yellow (SAFETY CYCLE): Illuminates during the 4-minute delay period after a power flicker, surge, blackout, or when the unit is first plugged in. During this time, the appliance is blocked from receiving power.

Understanding the Delay Function:

The 4-minute safety cycle (indicated by the yellow LED) is a critical feature. It prevents immediate power restoration to your appliance after a power interruption, protecting sensitive components from potential damage caused by unstable power during startup. Once the power stabilizes for 4 minutes, the green 'POWER ON' LED will light up, and power will be supplied to your appliance.
