Figure 6.1: Close-up view of the timer's mechanical dial, showing the "TIME OF DAY" indicator and tripper slots.

  1. Set Current Time: Rotate the entire dial clockwise until the current time of day aligns with the "TIME OF DAY" arrow indicator. The dial is marked in 24-hour format (e.g., 12 for noon, 24 for midnight).
  2. Insert ON Trippers: Locate the green "ON" trippers. Insert them into the slots on the dial corresponding to the desired time you want your device to turn ON.
  3. Insert OFF Trippers: Locate the red "OFF" trippers. Insert them into the slots on the dial corresponding to the desired time you want your device to turn OFF.
  4. Minimum Interval: Each tripper represents a 30-minute interval. Ensure there is at least a 30-minute gap between an ON and OFF tripper for proper operation.
  5. Manual Override: The timer typically has a manual override switch (often labeled ON/OFF or AUTO/ON/OFF) that allows you to temporarily turn the connected device on or off without affecting the programmed schedule. Return it to the "AUTO" position for scheduled operation.
  6. Close Cover: Once programming is complete, securely close the weatherproof flip cover to protect the dial and internal components from moisture and debris.

Additional trippers can be purchased separately to create more ON/OFF cycles throughout the day.

7. Maintenance

The Intermatic HB11K timer requires minimal maintenance to ensure long-lasting performance.

  • Cleaning: Periodically wipe the exterior of the timer with a damp cloth to remove dirt and debris. Do not use abrasive cleaners or immerse in water.
  • Cover Integrity: Regularly inspect the weatherproof flip cover for any cracks or damage. Ensure it closes securely to maintain its protective seal.
  • Cord and Plug: Check the power cord and plug for any signs of wear, cuts, or damage. If damaged, discontinue use and replace the unit.
  • Winterization: In extremely harsh winter conditions, consider bringing the timer indoors or providing additional protection if not in use.
