Setup and Initial Configuration

1. Setting Year, Month, and Day
- Press the TIME button. The year indicator will flash.
- Use the + or - buttons to set the current year.
- Press the TIME button again to advance to the month setting. Use + or - to select the current month.
- Press the TIME button again to advance to the day setting. Use + or - to select the current day of the month.
2. Daylight Saving Time (DST) Adjustment
- Press the TIME button to access the DST screen.
- Use the + or - buttons to select between 'OFF' (manual DST) or 'AUTO' (automatic DST adjustment). 'AUTO' is recommended for automatic changes in spring and fall.
3. Setting Current Time (Hour and Minute)
- Press the TIME button to access the clock setting screen. The hour digits will flash.
- Use the + or - buttons to set the current hour, paying attention to AM/PM.
- Press the TIME button to set the minute. The minute digits will flash.
- Use the + or - buttons to set the current minute.
4. Setting Astronomic Zone and Sunrise/Sunset Times
The timer features an astronomic function that automatically adjusts to daily sunrise/sunset changes based on your geographical zone. You can fine-tune these times if needed.

- Press the TIME button to select your astronomic zone (NORTH, CENTRAL, or SOUTH). Refer to the map in your printed manual for your region.
- Press the TIME button to access the AM sunrise time screen. The sunrise time for your selected zone will be displayed.
- Use the + or - buttons to adjust the sunrise operating time (up to ±2 hours) to match your local sunrise time. Press RESUME to return to the original sunrise time.
- Press the TIME button to access the PM sunset time screen. The sunset time for your selected zone will be displayed.
- Use the + or - buttons to adjust the sunset operating time (up to ±2 hours) to match your local sunset time. Press RESUME to return to the original sunset time.
Operating Instructions (Programming)
The DT122K allows for up to 7 ON/OFF programmed events. Programmed events affect both outlets simultaneously.
1. Programming ON Events
- From the main time display, press the PROGRAM button. The display will show dashes for the first ON program.
- Press the TIME button to set the ON event. The day(s) of the week will flash.
- Use the + or - buttons to select the day(s) for the ON event. Options include individual days (MO, TU, WE, TH, FR, SA, SU), every day (MO TU WE TH FR SA SU), weekdays (MO TU WE TH FR), or weekends (SA SU).
- Press the TIME button to advance to the hour setting.
- Use the + or - buttons to set the desired ON hour. You can also select 'SUNRISE' or 'SUNSET' by pressing the - button past midnight.
- Press the TIME button to advance to the minute setting.
- Use the + or - buttons to set the desired ON minute.
2. Programming OFF Events
- After setting the ON event, press the PROGRAM button to advance to the OFF time setting for the same program. The display will show dashes.
- Press the TIME button to set the OFF event. The day(s) of the week will flash.
- Use the + or - buttons to select the day(s) for the OFF event (same options as ON events).
- Press the TIME button to advance to the hour setting.
- Use the + or - buttons to set the desired OFF hour. You can also select 'SUNRISE' or 'SUNSET' by pressing the - button past midnight.
- Press the TIME button to advance to the minute setting.
- Use the + or - buttons to set the desired OFF minute.
3. Setting Multiple Programs
To set additional programs (up to 7), repeat steps 1-14. After setting an OFF event, pressing PROGRAM will advance to the next available program slot.
4. Manual Override and Random Mode
All modes affect both outlets.
- From the main time display, press the MODE button to cycle through operating modes:
- ON: Timer is continuously ON.
- OFF: Timer is continuously OFF.
- AUTO: Timer operates according to programmed ON/OFF events and astronomic settings.
- RDM (Random): Timer operates in AUTO mode, but varies the programmed ON/OFF times by ±15 minutes each day for enhanced security, giving a "lived-in" appearance.
Maintenance
The Intermatic DT122K timer includes a built-in rechargeable lithium-ion battery. This battery retains date and time settings for a minimum of 7 days in the event of a power failure, ensuring your programs are not lost.
- No user-serviceable parts inside. Do not attempt to open the timer casing.
- Clean the exterior of the timer with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use liquid cleaners or aerosols.
- Ensure the timer is unplugged before cleaning.
Troubleshooting
If you experience issues with your Intermatic DT122K timer, try the following steps:
- No Display/No Power: Ensure the timer is securely plugged into a live, functioning outlet. Check the circuit breaker.
- Programs Not Running: Verify the timer is set to 'AUTO' or 'RDM' mode. Check that the current time and date are set correctly. Ensure the programmed ON/OFF times are valid and not conflicting.
- Resetting the Timer: If the timer becomes unresponsive or displays erratic behavior, locate the small 'RESET' button (often recessed) and press it firmly with a non-metallic pointed object (like a toothpick). This will clear all settings and require re-programming.
