AcuRite Digital Indoor / Outdoor Thermometer User Manual

Model: 00522SBDI

1. Introduction

The AcuRite Digital Indoor / Outdoor Thermometer provides accurate temperature readings for both your indoor environment and an outdoor location. This wireless system features an easy-to-read digital display, a clock with alarm, and records daily high and low temperatures. It is designed for simple setup and reliable performance.

Key Features:

  • Wireless outdoor temperature monitoring
  • Indoor temperature display
  • Clock with alarm and snooze function
  • Records 24-hour high and low temperatures
  • Wireless range up to 165 feet (50 meters)

2. Package Contents

  • Digital Display Unit
  • Wireless Outdoor Temperature Sensor

Note: 4 AA alkaline batteries are required for operation (2 for the display unit, 2 for the outdoor sensor) and are not included.

3. Setup

3.1 Battery Installation

  1. Remove the battery compartment cover on the back of the Wireless Outdoor Temperature Sensor.
  2. Insert 2 fresh AA alkaline batteries, observing the polarity markings (+ and -).
  3. Replace the battery compartment cover.
  4. Remove the battery compartment cover on the back of the Digital Display Unit.
  5. Insert 2 fresh AA alkaline batteries, observing the polarity markings (+ and -).
  6. Replace the battery compartment cover.

3.2 Sensor Placement

For accurate outdoor temperature readings, proper placement of the wireless sensor is crucial.

  1. Choose a location that is out of direct sunlight and away from heat sources (e.g., exhaust vents, windows). Direct sunlight can cause inaccurate high temperature readings.
  2. Ensure the sensor is within 165 feet (50 meters) of the digital display unit. Obstacles like thick walls, metal siding, or large electronic devices can reduce the wireless range.
  3. Mount the sensor securely using the integrated keyhole hanger or a screw (not included).

3.3 Initial Synchronization

Once batteries are installed in both units, the display unit will automatically begin searching for the outdoor sensor signal. This process may take a few minutes.

  • The outdoor temperature will appear on the display once a connection is established.
  • If the outdoor temperature does not appear, try relocating the sensor or display unit closer together, or reset both units by removing and reinserting batteries.

4. Operating Instructions

4.1 Display Overview

The digital display unit shows the current indoor temperature, current outdoor temperature, and a clock. It also indicates the daily high and low temperatures recorded over a 24-hour period.

4.2 Viewing Temperatures

  • The OUTDOOR section displays the temperature reported by the wireless sensor. A signal strength indicator shows the connection quality.
  • The INDOOR section displays the temperature measured by the sensor within the display unit itself.

4.3 Clock and Alarm

Refer to the specific buttons on your display unit (usually labeled 'SET', 'MODE', 'ALARM') to set the time and activate/deactivate the alarm function. The alarm typically features a snooze option.

4.4 Max/Min Temperature History

The display unit automatically tracks and shows the highest and lowest temperatures recorded over the past 24 hours. This feature allows you to monitor temperature fluctuations throughout the day.

5. Maintenance

5.1 Battery Replacement

Replace batteries in both the display unit and the outdoor sensor when the low battery indicator appears on the display. Always use fresh AA alkaline batteries. It is recommended to replace both sets of batteries at the same time to ensure optimal performance and synchronization.

5.2 Cleaning

Wipe the units clean with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents, as these may damage the plastic casing or electronic components. Ensure no moisture enters the battery compartments or other openings.

6. Troubleshooting

ProblemSolution
No outdoor temperature reading
  • Ensure batteries are correctly installed in both units.
  • Relocate the outdoor sensor closer to the display unit.
  • Avoid major electronic interference (e.g., TVs, microwaves).
  • Reset both units by removing and reinserting batteries.
Inaccurate outdoor temperature
  • Ensure the outdoor sensor is placed in a shaded area, away from direct sunlight or heat sources.
  • Verify the sensor is not exposed to moisture.
