Setup
Charging the Battery
Before first use, fully charge the internal Lithium Polymer battery. Connect the supplied USB charging cable to the DC IN 5V port on the rear of the DAC-HA200 and the other end to a USB power adapter (5V/1A recommended) or a computer's USB port. The CHARGE indicator will illuminate during charging and turn off when fully charged. A full charge typically takes about 4 hours and provides approximately 8 hours of playback.
Connecting Headphones
Plug your headphones into the PHONES jack on the front panel of the DAC-HA200.
Connecting to Audio Sources
The DAC-HA200 supports multiple input methods:
- Digital Audio Input (USB-A):
- For iOS Devices (iPhone, iPad, iPod): Use a Lightning to USB-A cable (sold separately) to connect your iOS device to the USB-A port on the rear of the DAC-HA200.
- For Computers (PC/Mac): Use a USB-A to USB-B cable (sold separately) to connect your computer to the USB-A port on the rear of the DAC-HA200. You may need to install a dedicated driver for high-resolution audio playback on Windows.
- For Android Devices: Some Android devices supporting USB Audio Class 2.0 (AOA 2.0) can connect via a USB OTG cable (sold separately) to the USB-A port. Compatibility may vary.
- Optical Digital Input (OPT/AUDIO IN): Connect a digital audio source with an optical output (e.g., portable media player, CD player) using a 3.5mm optical cable to either OPT/AUDIO IN jack.
- Analog Audio Input (OPT/AUDIO IN): Connect an analog audio source (e.g., smartphone headphone jack, portable music player) using a 3.5mm stereo mini-jack cable to either OPT/AUDIO IN jack.

Figure 6: Connection Example. The DAC-HA200 is shown connected to a laptop via USB, with headphones plugged into the front, illustrating a typical setup for enhanced audio playback.
Operating Instructions
Powering On/Off
To turn on the unit, rotate the Volume Knob clockwise from the OFF position. The POWER indicator will light up. To turn off, rotate the Volume Knob counter-clockwise to the OFF position.
Adjusting Gain
The GAIN switch on the front panel allows you to select between 'L' (Low) and 'H' (High) gain settings. Use the 'L' setting for low-impedance headphones (typically less than 100 ohms) and the 'H' setting for high-impedance headphones (100 ohms or more) or when you need more output power. Experiment to find the best setting for your headphones and listening preference.
Volume Control
Adjust the Volume Knob to your desired listening level. Start with a low volume and gradually increase it to avoid sudden loud sounds.
Audio Playback
Once connected and powered on, begin playback from your audio source. The DAC-HA200 will automatically process the audio signal and output it through the connected headphones.
For optimal performance with digital sources, especially high-resolution audio, it is recommended to use a dedicated music player application on your connected device that supports external DACs (e.g., Onkyo HF Player app for iOS/Android).
Maintenance
- Cleaning: Wipe the unit with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
- Storage: When not in use for extended periods, store the unit in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
- Battery Care: To prolong battery life, avoid fully discharging the battery frequently. If storing for a long time, charge the battery to about 50% every few months.
