4. Setup and Assembly

4.1 Unpacking and Initial Inspection

Carefully remove all components from the packaging. Check for any signs of damage during transit. Ensure all parts listed in the packing list are present.

4.2 Guide Bar and Chain Assembly

1. Place the chainsaw on a stable, flat surface.
2. Remove the chain cover by loosening the two nuts.
3. Mount the guide bar onto the studs, ensuring the chain tensioner pin fits into the hole on the guide bar.
4. Carefully place the chain around the sprocket and into the guide bar groove. Ensure the cutting edges of the chain are facing the correct direction (refer to the arrow on the guide bar).
5. Replace the chain cover and hand-tighten the nuts. Do not fully tighten yet.

4.3 Fuel and Chain Oil

IMPORTANT: This is a 2-stroke engine. It requires a mixture of unleaded petrol and 2-stroke engine oil. Never use pure petrol or automotive oil.

• Fuel Mixture: Mix unleaded petrol with high-quality 2-stroke engine oil at the ratio specified by the manufacturer (typically 1:50 or 2%). Use a clean fuel mixing container.
• Chain Oil: Fill the chain oil tank with specialized chainsaw chain lubricant. Do not use waste oil or motor oil.
• Ensure both tanks are filled before starting the chainsaw.

4.4 Chain Tensioning

Proper chain tension is crucial for safe and efficient operation. The chain should be snug against the guide bar but still able to be pulled around by hand. There should be no slack on the underside of the guide bar.

1. With the chain cover nuts slightly loose, use the front tensioner screw to adjust the chain tension.
2. Once the correct tension is achieved, fully tighten the chain cover nuts.
3. Re-check chain tension after the first few cuts, as new chains can stretch.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Starting the Engine (Cold Start)

1. Place the chainsaw on a firm, flat surface. Ensure the chain brake is engaged.
2. Press the primer bulb several times until fuel is visible.
3. Set the choke lever to the full choke position.
4. Pull the starter cord firmly until the engine fires (usually a few pulls). Do not pull the cord to its full extension.
5. Once the engine fires, immediately push the choke lever to the half-choke position.
6. Pull the starter cord again until the engine starts and runs.
7. Allow the engine to warm up for a few seconds, then push the choke lever to the run position.
8. Briefly blip the throttle to disengage the fast idle.

5.2 Starting the Engine (Warm Start)

1. Ensure the chain brake is engaged.
2. Set the choke lever to the run position.
3. Pull the starter cord until the engine starts.

5.3 Cutting Techniques

WARNING: Always be aware of potential kickback and falling objects. Plan your cuts carefully.

• Felling: For felling trees, always assess the direction of fall, clear the area, and make proper felling cuts (notch and felling cut).
• Limbing: Remove branches from a fallen tree. Work from the base towards the top, supporting the log to prevent pinching.
• Bucking: Cutting a fallen log into shorter sections. Use wedges if necessary to prevent the saw from pinching.
• Always keep both hands on the chainsaw handles and maintain a firm grip.

5.4 Stopping the Engine

To stop the engine, simply push the stop switch to the 'OFF' position.

6.1 Daily Maintenance

• Clean the air filter.
• Check and clean the guide bar groove and oil holes.
