5.1 Unpacking and Placement

  1. Carefully remove the machine from its packaging.
  2. Place the machine on a stable, level, and heat-resistant surface, ensuring adequate ventilation around it.
  3. Remove any protective films or packaging materials.

5.2 Initial Cleaning

  • Wash the water tank, drip tray, and portafilter with warm water and mild detergent. Rinse thoroughly.
  • Wipe the exterior of the machine with a damp cloth.

5.3 Filling the Water Tank

  1. Remove the water tank from the back of the machine.
  2. Fill the tank with fresh, filtered water up to the MAX level (2.5 liters).
  3. Insert the water filter (if supplied) into the tank as per its instructions.
  4. Place the water tank back into its position, ensuring it is seated correctly.

5.4 First Use and Priming

  1. Plug the machine into a grounded power outlet (230V).
  2. Turn on the main power switch. The machine will begin to heat up.
  3. The pump will activate to fill the boiler. This may be accompanied by a loud noise initially.
  4. Once the boiler is filled, open the hot water wand for a few seconds until water flows steadily. Close the wand. This primes the system.
  5. Allow the machine to fully heat up. This typically takes 15-20 minutes, indicated by the PID display reaching the set temperature and the pressure gauge stabilizing.

6. Operating Instructions

6.1 Making Espresso

  1. Ensure the machine is fully heated and the PID displays the desired brewing temperature.
  2. Grind fresh coffee beans to an espresso-fine consistency.
  3. Dose the appropriate amount of ground coffee into your chosen filter basket in the portafilter.
  4. Distribute the coffee evenly and tamp firmly with the supplied tamper.
  5. Wipe any loose grounds from the portafilter rim.
  6. Insert the portafilter into the L58E group head and lock it into place.
  7. Place a pre-heated cup under the portafilter spouts.
  8. Lift the brew lever to start the extraction. Observe the coffee flow and the pressure gauge.
  9. Lower the brew lever to stop the extraction once the desired volume is reached (typically 25-30 seconds for a double shot).
  10. Remove the portafilter, discard the spent coffee grounds, and rinse the portafilter.

6.2 Steaming Milk for Cappuccino

  1. Ensure the machine is at steaming temperature (steam pressure gauge should be in the optimal range).
  2. Fill a cold stainless steel milk pitcher with cold milk (dairy or non-dairy) to just below the spout.
  3. Purge the steam wand by briefly opening the steam valve to release any condensed water. Close the valve.
  4. Immerse the tip of the steam wand just below the surface of the milk.
  5. Open the steam valve fully. Position the wand to create a swirling motion in the milk, incorporating air for texture.
  6. Once the milk reaches the desired temperature and texture (pitcher becomes too hot to touch), close the steam valve.
  7. Immediately wipe the steam wand with a damp cloth to remove any milk residue. Purge the wand again to clear any internal milk.

6.3 Dispensing Hot Water

  1. Place a cup under the hot water wand.
  2. Open the hot water valve.
  3. Dispense the desired amount of hot water.
  4. Close the hot water valve.

7. Maintenance

7.1 Daily Cleaning

  • Empty and rinse the drip tray and grid.
  • Wipe down the steam wand immediately after each use.
  • Perform a backflush with a blind filter and group head cleaning detergent (follow detergent instructions).
  • Wipe the group head gasket and shower screen with a damp cloth.

7.2 Weekly Cleaning

  • Remove the shower screen and group head gasket. Clean them thoroughly with a brush and warm water.
  • Clean the portafilter and filter baskets.

7.3 Descaling

The frequency of descaling depends on your water hardness and usage. It is recommended to descale the machine every 2-3 months or as indicated by water quality. Use a descaling solution specifically designed for espresso machines and follow the product's instructions carefully. Regular use of a water filter can reduce the need for frequent descaling.

8. Troubleshooting

Problem Possible Cause Solution
No water flow from group head Empty water tank, clogged filter basket, pump not primed, scale buildup. Refill water tank, clean filter basket, prime the pump, descale the machine.
No steam from wand Machine not at steaming temperature, steam wand clogged. Allow machine to heat up longer, clean steam wand hole with a pin.
Espresso extracts too fast/slow Grind size too coarse/fine, incorrect coffee dose, tamping pressure. Adjust grind size, adjust coffee dose, ensure consistent tamping.
Machine not heating up Power issue, internal component failure. Check power connection. If problem persists, contact Lelit customer support.

If you encounter issues not listed here or if the suggested solutions do not resolve the problem, please contact Lelit customer support or an authorized service center.
