Product Overview
The 3M 2091 P100 Particulate Filter is designed to provide respiratory protection against exposure to various airborne contaminants. This filter is effective for concentrations up to 10 times the Permissible Exposure Limit (PEL) when used with half facepieces, or up to 50 times PEL with quantitatively fit tested full facepieces. It offers protection against a wide range of both oil and non-oil based particulate contaminants.
The filter's Advanced Electret Media (AEM) technology ensures a comfortable, lightweight, and easy-breathing experience. It is commonly utilized in environments involving welding, brazing, torch cutting, metal pouring, and soldering. Furthermore, it helps protect against exposure to hazardous substances such as lead, asbestos, cadmium, arsenic, and MDA.
Key Features
- Exceptional 99.97% particulate filter efficiency, meeting NIOSH P100-series standards.
- Provides lightweight, easy breathing comfort due to Advanced Electret Media (AEM).
- Offers versatile protection against many oil and non-oil based particulate contaminants.
- Features bayonet compatibility, allowing use with many 3M half and full facepiece designs.
- Suitable for a wide range of applications across various industries.
Setup and Installation
The 3M 2091 P100 Particulate Filters are designed for easy attachment to compatible 3M respirators. Ensure your respirator is clean and free from debris before installation.

- Align the three tabs on the filter with the corresponding slots on the respirator's filter receptacle.
- Push the filter onto the receptacle until it seats firmly.
- Twist the filter clockwise approximately one-quarter turn until it clicks into place. A secure click indicates proper attachment.
- Repeat the process for the second filter on the other side of the respirator.
- Perform a user seal check as per your respirator's instructions to ensure a proper fit before entering a contaminated area.

Operation
Once properly installed and sealed, the 3M 2091 P100 Particulate Filters will provide effective protection against airborne particulates. Breathe normally while wearing the respirator. The low-profile design of these filters minimizes interference with vision and other personal protective equipment.
These filters are designed for use in environments where particulate hazards are present. They do not protect against gases or vapors. For protection against gases and vapors, appropriate gas/vapor cartridges must be used in conjunction with or instead of particulate filters, depending on the specific hazard and respirator model.
Maintenance and Replacement
The 3M 2091 P100 Particulate Filters are maintenance-free and disposable. They should be replaced when breathing becomes difficult or when the filter becomes damaged, soiled, or contaminated. There is no rigid service life for particulate filters; replacement is based on user comfort and the level of particulate loading in the environment.
Store unused filters in their original packaging in a clean, dry place away from contaminants. Dispose of used filters according to local regulations for hazardous waste, especially if exposed to toxic substances.

Troubleshooting
If you experience any issues while using the 3M 2091 P100 Particulate Filters, consider the following:
- Difficulty Breathing: This is the primary indicator that the filters are becoming clogged and need to be replaced. Immediately leave the contaminated area and replace both filters.
- Smell or Taste of Contaminants: If you can smell or taste the contaminant while wearing the respirator, the filters may be compromised, improperly installed, or the respirator itself may not be providing an adequate seal. Immediately leave the contaminated area, check filter installation, perform a user seal check, and replace filters if necessary.
- Loose Fit: Ensure the respirator straps are properly adjusted and the filters are securely twisted into place. A proper seal is crucial for effective protection.
Always refer to the complete instructions provided with your 3M respirator for detailed troubleshooting and safety guidelines.
