5.2 Wiring Connections
Connect the wires according to standard electrical practices. If you are unsure, consult a qualified electrician.
- Connect the black wire from the fixture to the black (hot) wire from the junction box using a wire nut.
- Connect the white wire from the fixture to the white (neutral) wire from the junction box using a wire nut.
- Connect the green or bare copper (ground) wire from the fixture to the ground wire from the junction box using a wire nut.
- Carefully tuck all wires into the junction box.
5.3 Attaching the Fixture Body and Installing Bulbs
- Align the fixture body with the mounting plate and secure it with the provided screws. Ensure the gasket is properly seated to prevent water intrusion.
- Screw two PAR38 bulbs (up to 120W each, not included) into the lamp holders. Do not overtighten.
6. Operating Instructions
Once installed and powered on, the security light can be configured for optimal performance.
6.1 Adjusting Lamp Heads and Sensor
The lamp heads and motion sensor are adjustable to direct light and detection where needed.
- Loosen the adjustment knobs on the lamp heads and sensor.

6.2 Setting the Motion Timer
The motion timer determines how long the light stays on after motion is detected and stops. The available settings are Test, 1, 5, and 10 minutes.
- Locate the "TIME" dial on the bottom of the motion sensor.
- Rotate the dial to select the desired duration:
- Test: For initial setup and aiming. Light stays on for a few seconds.
- 1 min: Light stays on for 1 minute after motion ceases.
- 5 min: Light stays on for 5 minutes after motion ceases.
- 10 min: Light stays on for 10 minutes after motion ceases.
6.3 DualBrite 2-Level Lighting
This feature provides a low-level accent light during darkness, which brightens to full intensity upon motion detection.
- Locate the "DUALBRITE" dial on the bottom of the motion sensor.
- Rotate the dial to activate or deactivate this feature, and to adjust the duration of the low-level accent light (if applicable, refer to specific product manual for detailed settings).
- When activated, the light will illuminate at a low level from dusk to dawn, and switch to full brightness when motion is detected.
7. Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your security light.
- Cleaning: Periodically clean the fixture with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents. Ensure the motion sensor lens is clear of dirt and debris for proper operation.
- Bulb Replacement:
- Turn off power to the fixture at the circuit breaker.
- Allow bulbs to cool completely before handling.
- Unscrew the old PAR38 bulb and screw in a new one (up to 120W).
- Restore power and test.
- Inspections: Annually inspect wiring connections and mounting hardware for any signs of wear, corrosion, or loosening.
8. Troubleshooting
If your security light is not functioning as expected, refer to the following common issues and solutions:
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Light does not turn on at all. | No power; faulty bulb; wiring issue. | Check circuit breaker/fuse. Replace bulbs. Verify wiring connections. |
| Light stays on continuously. | Sensor in "Test" mode; constant motion detected; wiring error. | Adjust "TIME" dial off "Test". Clear obstructions from sensor view. Recheck wiring. |
| Light turns on during the day. | Photocell blocked or faulty. | Ensure photocell (small clear dome on sensor) is not obstructed by dirt or objects. |
| Motion sensor not detecting. | Sensor obstructed; incorrect angle; sensitivity too low. | Clean sensor lens. Adjust sensor angle. Increase sensitivity (if applicable, refer to product specific controls). |
